  1. Do you mean lost as in misplaced or lost as in disqualified?
  2. Expression of Interest submitted - 2nd July 2012 Invitation to Apply - 15th September 2012 Application lodged - 15th September 2012 Case Officer assigned - 10th October 2012 Grant Notification - 5th November 2012 Amazed at the speed of turnaround with this! Website still says a 12 month processing time and from CO assigned to grant took less than 1 month! Could not be happier.
  3. I got mine on 75 middle of last month under Software Engineer.
  4. Yeah I'm in Melbourne. Occupation is Software Engineer on the application. It was when I was last able to get into my profile, however for the last two days I've been getting an error on the page when trying to log in. Not too concerned now I've got a CO assigned. I did find it interesting they asked for documents I'd already uploaded with a note in one of the attachments citing 'System errors' as a reason for asking for the documentation again. I'd have thought IMMI would've insisted on a stricter testing procedure than have to mop up after themselves and double the workload for all involved.
  5. Much like the 190 progress thread, thought I'd start a similar for the 189 gang. Expression of Interest submitted - 2nd July 2012 Invitation to Apply - 15th September 2012 Application lodged - 15th September 2012 Case Officer assigned - 10th October 2012 Requested majority of docs already uploaded be emailed to them in Adelaide. Police clearance Australia and Overseas, skills report, bio page of passport, evidence of work experience Australia and Overseas. Interestingly, no request for medicals. Still sitting on my desk in a sealed envelope!
  6. IMMI Acknowledgement of Valid Application Received 19/09 for Skilled Independent (Permanent) (class SI) Skilled - Independent (subclass 189). Application date: 15/09. Most document including police checks uploaded, hard copy medical results in hand. Awaiting CO to ask about posting these on.
  7. Just passport and the two forms. Booked the appointment and paid online and just turned up. Bloods, a GP examination and the chest xray.
  8. ACS was my biggest bottle neck. I only submitted a reference from my current employer which at the time was 1 yr 10 months and they demanded 2 years worth of references so I had to go back to a contract position and get a ref and pay the additional fee for resubmission. My own fault really. My health was all done at the same time, chest xray and GP test with bloods although it took two almost identical forms. It's a bonus that now the application is electronic but there really should be a lot more automation across the system. I've lost track of the amount of times I've entered my passport number amongst other bits of information that is unique to me and my application.
  9. I have them in a sealed envelope sitting infront of me on the coffee table right now. However, I did just read online that the clinic, Medibank in my case, send them to the DIAC so not sure if there's a duplicate copy or I'm to forward these on. This envelope is marked DO NOT OPEN so I assumed these are the originals.
  10. Yeah, UK and AUS. Looks like a day in the office scanning and attaching!
  11. Received the good news this morning. Invitation to apply for 189 visa received. Have just completed the online application and paid the $3060 fee. 80 points Software Engineer. EOI sent 1 July. It's saying next step Health Assesment but I've actually been proactive and completed this a few months ago, take it the case officer will remedy that? Now to attach all the doco. Should be fun!
  12. More to highlight the scare mongering on here about how daunting the test is was unjust.
  13. In the interest of constructive critism, that's a weak excuse. I understand the importance of the exam and exams for many are an intimidating experience but there's far too much scare mongering on here that no doubt amplifies those nerves. By far the most nerve wracking part for me was not being allowed a bathroom break having consumed a litre of water within the first hour.
  14. Deliberate mistake for the day, well spotted Like I said, no intent to offend. Seems I've struck a nerve.
  15. Thought I'd post my IELTS experience on here as having come on and read a few peoples posts the day before the test I was quite nervous having done absolutely no prep other than find the test centre. I'm a 30 year old male IT professional, born and bred in Scotland and moved here two years ago. This test surely isn't for me I thought. I did my test here in Melbourne two Saturday's ago with the speaking test during the week before. Just collected my results. Listeing 9.0 Reading 9.0 Writing 9.0 Speaking 9.0 Overall 9.0 Hopefully I don't offend anyone here, but if you're failing that test you really need to engage your brain a bit more in everyday life. The answers were all there, each and every one with the exception of the written. Some did require you 'think outside the box' but for someone living and working in an English speaking country, presented with it everyday and a grasp of high school English it should be a walk in the park.
  16. Yeah I'll bring that up with their migration agent, but I'd have thought in the first instance they'll need to take my 457 over anyway. That aside, for the 189 visa is there anything that stipulates the length of time you have to be with a single employer for when moving from 457?
  17. Thanks Raul. The company is already an approved sponsor and as my current position already meets the requirements and this is the same position ANZSCO wise and an improvement in salary conditions I don't foresee issue in that respect.
  18. Looking for advice on transferring 457. I have been in Australia since Feb 2010, arrived on a working holiday visa, working with current company since July 2010, 457 approved November 2010. All good. Began gathering the relevant material for PR application earlier this year so I've done my health test, skills test and police checks. Sent EOI for 189 visa on July 2nd with a points score of 60 (pass mark for software engineer is 60). No invite as of yet so I've taken IELTS hopefully to boost my score if I get in band 7 or 8. Over the last month I've been head hunted by another software company here in Melbourne who have offered a position (software engineer again) and are an approved sponsor. What I'd like cleared up is will accepting this offer, despite being same position and would be same ANZSCO code, have a negative impact on my future 189 visa application?
  19. Form 1196n is my friend. Thanks for your help folks.
  20. Thanks for that. So I should just point them to this https://www.ecom.immi.gov.au/visas/business/unknownUserMenu.do?formId=NOM The job is going to be the same title and I imagine the business is already an approved sponsor given the size. I have around 18 months left on my current 457 and currently have an EOI in for a 189 visa which I plan to carry on with under the new company, if anything to avoid this stuffing around in future. How do IMMI know I have moved companies? I don't recall there being anything in that application nomination which mentioned an employer by name?

  22. I'm in Melbourne. Cost isn't really an issue, just not sure how you differentiate between a transfer of an existing and a new 457 application. It's not particularly clear.
