  1. To say - Hi All, Me and my partner have recently moved to Brisbane into temporary "holiday" accommodation but we are looking to move into our own rented property asap. There are so many different suburbs we really need some good strong guidance from other residents and locals on what suburbs are good, why they are good, which ones are bad and why we should avoid them etc. could anyone please help?! Update - So we are looking for either a house or apartment, need 2 bedrooms or more, being a little further out from the city wouldnt be too much for a problem as we hope to have a car but we want are looking to meet friends in the area so i guess cant be too remote... We have noticed the further out you are the more space you get but is that worth it if the area isnt great or you maybe are too far from the CBD? Thank you so much in advance!! :-) Ash. Reason for update - Forgot to mention some crucial details as @lastonealive mentioned (thank you btw!) Thanks, Ash.
  2. We have unfortunately had to break lease on our lovely 1 bed furnished apartment in Taringa due to needing an extra bedroom for family moving over. The apartment would be perfect for someone moving over to Australia who wants to move straight in to a fully furnished apartment in a nice leafy surburb, close to the city, on a train line and walking distance to shops, restaurants, bars, etc. You can also sample the Aussie lifestyle straight away with 2 pools to choose from in the complex. The apartment is available from the 15th July. 3. Hi guys was wondering if someone could advise me on any good clean holiday apartments/homes or websites to find them in Brisbane or Ipswich area for a 3 week holiday in September to get our P.R validated and do a bit of research on suburbs etc before we move permanently next year. thanks Tony
  4. We have decided to bite the bullet and are moving to Brisbane in May. I have been searching for a short term rental for when we arrive and they are mega expensive. I have bugetted £2000 for it but even the caravan park comes in at £4800! I really don't want anything fancy, just a base near enough to the CBD to search for jobs and find a rental. The kids are aged 13, 11, 5 and 3, so i need somewhere with enough room, but i would consider a place that sleeps less than 6 and make do, to save money. Any ideas anyone?!? Also, I wondered if it is really necessary to book the short term rental for 4 weeks, do you think we could secure a place to live in 3 weeks? Thanks for any advice. Imogen

I want to live with fun people!

Heeeey. I am moving to Brisbane in January and have been looking for somewhere to live with people similar to my age. My ideal accommodation would be like student living but obviously I am not a student anymore (I'm 23). I want to live with a group of Australians around the center of Brisbane area (or roughly around there) so I signed up for different flat sharing websites but all I seem to get it creepy replies and one bedroom flats which I would find so boring. Can anyone help? Thaaanks :notworthy: Kirst xx
  6. Hi All, We moved from Sweden earlier in the year - around Jan. Found it almost impossible to get a rental here in Brisbane, so we took a 12 month lease when we only really needed a 6 month lease. The 6 months is coming to an end and we are looking for someone to take over the lease until mid March. Our place is very nice, in Bardon which is about 8 mins to the city and right near Paddington (trendy cafes and art galleries etc). Its a very big townhouse / apartment on two levels. There are 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms on the top level, a living area and kitchen with massive double doors that open out to a fully covered courtyard. The courtyard is very big and was plenty of room for my 1yo and 3 yo to ride their bikes, have a cubby and a sandpit. Downstairs there is den / entertainment room, laundry, storage room, office and another room that could be used as another bedroom or as a storage room. Downstairs also has a back courtyard. Airconditioned, dishwasher, everything modern and in good condition. It was definately the best we could find in our price range. $520 per week. Its a large place - larger than some of the houses we looked at. DOuble carport at the rear of the building. I'm going to contact our Agent and ask them to advertise the house, I just thought I would post it here as I found this resource really useful when we were finding out about moving. If we can save another family the panic and stress we had in finding a place then that will make me very happy! I lived in Brisbane 10 years ago and was totally shocked at the state of the rental market when I returned. Please contact me ASAP as we are wanting to get things sorted. You will still need to apply through the agent. I've taken loads of photos so email me if you are interested. Thanks ELlissa
