  1. After 17 months, we finally received our PR today. To say we're relieved is a massive understatement. It took my husband's work 6 months to put the nomination in. That got approved 4 months later. Then we put our visa application in at the end of Nov, got requested more information on May 17, submitted it all at 9 am this morning and approved at 1pm. Unbelievable!
  2. Were the 2nd round of docs requested related to the 1st round? I was hoping that they would ask for everything in go. Is this normal? I ask because I was requested more docs yesterday and I'm not sure I could handle it if they ask for more after this.
  3. Could someone please update the spreadsheet for me with the below information? Thanks in advance
  4. I was contacted by CO today requesting more information. They want PCC (even though we have already submitted them) and form 80 filled out for us both. Our nomination was processed in NSW, application being processed in WA.
  5. Hi Jay, I see that we have almost an identical timeline. The waiting is so hard. I had no idea when lodging things last June that almost 11 months later we still wouldn't have PR :-( Fingers crossed for good news any day now.
  6. If my nomination processing centre was NSW then does it mean my visa processing will be NSW too?
  7. congratulations DejaVu. If you are still checking this can you please let me know how long your AFP was expired for?
  8. I'm looking for some advice and this community seems to be able to very helpful. We did our medicals very early last year as originally we thought the visa would all go through a lot earlier (a mistake I know). The medicals expired on Feb 2nd 2016. Given we submitted the visa application on 31st Oct I'm not expecting news until late April/early May. I'm presuming we'll be asked to resit our medicals. Does anyone have any advice on this and as to whether we can arrange to resit them easily?
  9. Hi, I had been using this /stats/aus/skillselect-ens-186 and I couldn't understand why it wasn't being updated! I've just spotted the new link https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...htmlview?pli=1 How do I gain access to add in my info?
  10. My husband is a primary school teacher. We are on a 457 and are currently applying for our 186 (transition stream). For this the requirements are below. For a teacher in Victoria what does he need for the below? Does he need two different documents or just one? Is it from VIT (Victoria Institute of Teaching)? If so, he has his Permission to Teach membership card. Someone said he needs a Statement of Good Standing. Does anyone know what is required? Any help much appreciated! [h=3]Skills and qualifications (must hold at time of application)[/h]Your skills do not need to be assessed because you have already worked for your nominating employer for two years in Australia. Registration, licensing or professional membership, if required for your occupation in the state or territory in which you will be working. Documents from the relevant Australian registration and licensing authorities that show you hold, or will be able to meet, necessary registration and licensing requirements. The documents must specify both of the following: the type of registration or licensing held the name and contact details for the registration or licensing authority.
  11. Hi, I have trawled the web and I'm either not a good searcher or else no one else has posted about the same situation. I'm completing my taxes online and I'm almost there. The one stumbling block is the medicare levy and the medicare levy surcharge. I am on a 457 visa and am married. I am an Irish citizen and so I am exempt from the medicare levy (I have already been issued my exemption letter). However, my husband is a UK citizen and so is entitled to medicare. Question 1: do I have to pay the levy because my husband isn't exempt? The online info suggests we both need to be exempt in order for me to get the refund? Question 2: our combined salary is over $180K. Do I need to pay the medicare levy surcharge if I am exempt from the medicare levy? Thanks in advance. Thumbelina :-)
  12. Hi, Myself and my husband are starting the process of applying for PR (via the 186 transition scheme). We are going to start trying for a family too and ideally we will be residents by the time a baby arrives. This brings up the issue of getting a chest x-ray while pregnant which I don't want to do. I know we can do our Health Declarations in advance but I'm afraid of spending all the money on the full health exams and then the visa getting delayed for some reason and having to pay for them both again. I know they are valid for 12 months so we should be ok and will do this if necessary however I was wondering if I can get an independent chest x-ray now and bring it with me to my health exam or does it have to be done at the time of the health exam? Many thanks in advance, Thumbelina :-)
  13. I should also clarify what exact evidence I submitted with the application, just for others: - Bank account statements showing rent I paid him in Sep 2012 -Nov 2012 - Joint bank statement showing shared financial commitment since end Jan 2013 - Joint car insurance since Feb 2013 - 5 photos - 4 emails showing correspondence during time apart - 2 statutory declarations from Australian citizens confirming our relationship (my friend, his sister in law) - Statutory declarations from myself and my partner - 2 witnessed statements (1 family, 1 friend) from home I also needed the letter of confirmation from his employer and private health insurance. I arrived at this list after talking to immigration agents and also the department of immigration (who stated that the statutory declarations were imperative).
  14. Hi Rupert, I just wanted to thank you again for your response. I had a 'crack' myself 3 weeks ago and yesterday I was granted my de facto visa. I'm absolutely thrilled. I'm even more glad that I didn't pay agent's fees. I can now go back to a lot of the employers that I previously met and let them know that I no longer need sponsorship, this was definitely a stumbling block in the job search. Also, this way I'm not tied to a particular employer. Just for everyone out there de facto partner for a 457 is different, definitely less strict, than de facto for permanent residency or citizen. The main point being you only need 6 months evidence rather than 1 year. Also, it was very quick, 3 weeks :-) Thanks again
