Whether the education system is 'better' or not in the uk is debatable.however, what is not up for debate is the level of respect Oz kids show to their elders compared to UK. The schools in the uk regularly have kids doing drugs, telling teachers to f* off, threatening and sometimes physically violent towards teachers. Kids in the UK are a disgrace. I know this as a family member is a teacher. If the kids are cooperative in class, then a lesson can occur. If they have disruptive kids (with parents who think their child can do no wrong, may I add) in the class, this will disrupt learning. I'm sorry but knowing what I know, I'd rather be in the Oz education system as a child these days.

Hey guys - I'm in Web Development with over 5 years of professional experience. I'm a primarily a back-end LAMP developer - however I am also a strong front-end HTML/CSS/JS/AJAX developer too. I'm currently looking to see if I can go over on a 457. I have 1 contact over there in IT who may be able to help. However, I am also trying to look myself for opportunities. They are in sales so they're not that much help to me. Oz seem to be crying out for developers so I think it's to the contrary that they wouldn't take from overseas. I'm sure sooner or later I will find a role through job boards but it would be good to speak to a recruiter. Hense me asking for contacts

Hi guys - Developer/Programmer is one of the occupations on the SOL, which I am very happy about as I am a Developer with over 5 years of professional experience. Im looking to hopefully get sponsored by an employer. I am looking to get a web dev role in Sydney and was wondering if anyone had any tips? I know through reading that it's certainly not going to be easy but i also know that it is definately possible. I have seen a couple of PHP dev jobs that offer sponsorship recently but they were in Melbourne. If anyone has any contacts for IT recruitment or any advice, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you - please know that I am not being naive about how difficult this is, however about 5 of my friends now reside in Sydney after getting sponsored and I wanna follow them badly

I thought I was right by stating 457 but I wasn't quite 100% and didn't want to make myself sound like I know what I'm talking about when I'm a bit hazey about the whole thing. 4 weeks is good. Although I have over 5 years experience and working evidence of my work, my only fear is I won't get sponsored straight away. I know people who have via Skype interviews though, so we'll see.

Thanks for the info. We have lived together for 9 months and have been together for about 2 years. No company as yet as we're not moving yet. She has been able to place people for sponsorship doing similar roles to me before.

Hi everyone. I am a Web/Software Developer looking to move to Sydney Australia next year. I have been told by a friend who is an IT recruiter currently living in Sydney that I will be able to get sponsorship. I'm just wondering how quickly a sponsorship can be processed and how quickly I can get my girlfriend included on my sponsorship? The reason being, my girlfriend who I have been with for 2 years has already been out to Australia on a working holiday visa (so she cannot come out on that and wait for the visa to be processed). Does the visa get processed before I enter the country? How quickly are they normally processed? Sorry to sound clueless but I don't know anyone who has ever been in the situation.
