  1. HI, Just starting to look into Citizenship, but our eldest is 16 this July. Can he be included in our application as parents, if we applied before July, or would he need to do his own, as by the time the applications are processed he would be 16 years old?? Anyone advise? Thanks
  2. We had to provide evidence of our visa grants prior to shipping...sounds like you might have to wait :-/
  3. Hi, I have just seen this, am I able to attend? 2 adults, 2 children? Been here for 2 months now would be nice to catch up with others :-)
  4. Second that - get all your documents first - otherwise you will be in for a longer wait and emails back and forth...
  5. hmmm...due to land in Perth in 5 1/2 weeks! Me, OH and 2 children aged 7 and 11 years. We have never been to Oz, have no relatives there either. Leap of Faith... Our reasons ..... Fed up of UK weather and rain; on deciding on Perth I looked up where has the most sun,and most family friendly places in Australia, and also flying time back to UK; - google has the answers haha, Thinking we work full time, own our house (need a bigger one though), have annual holidays, two beautiful children but thought is this same old routine for another 34 years until we can retire - ready for an adventure and something new when i'm a little younger rather than 68! :-); Want a more family friendly property with some space; Want my children to experience new things and try new things that they would not be able to in UK; OH wants a complete change of job/direction - this will give him the opportunity to have a good think; Looking forward to having a month or so off work to explore - would never be allowed that much annual leave in one go; Thinking ahead for career opportunities for my children - limited in UK at moment, many going to Uni and not getting a job after years of hard work; Worries about risks for children playing out (although I'm sure these are everywhere), Worries about venturing in some areas - we have had gang shootings in the next city (some 5 miles away) with adult gang/organised crime groups with fatalities including a 8 year old boy being shot in the leg! Obviously avoid these areas but not good - feels unsafe; Limited outdoor activities - children won't do certain outdoor/water activities as its so cold - thinking this would be much more pleasant in the sun where they wont get hypothermia; Thinking if its not for us - we always have an option of returning to the UK...and we would have had an adventure to spice things up :-) Thinking positive :-)
  6. Congratulations!!! :-)
  7. Thank you for your helpful replies - it really has helped us to think a little clearer about the 'do we go as planned or not' - we have decided it would cost just as much to return to the UK and get our furniture back, as to set up in Oz. So we have decided we will risk it and go for it :-/ So we have added everything up we can possibly save (and still pay the bills here until end December including the mortgage) and reckon we could muster up 4K. Not alot to set up but this is worst case scenario and hopefully I start my new job on 4th January - our holiday let will be paid for until 11th January. Think it will be hard though as we need to get a cheap car, find a longer term let from 11/1/2016, eat and sort out Christmas! In regards to the house, we have reduced the price again and if their is no more interest before next week we may look into re-mortgaging, taking some equity and over a longer term to reduce the monthly payments until its sold - maybe we will get accepted/maybe not - but i guess they can only say no... Unable to get a BTL mortgage as with the new rules I would need another UK residential property - so we don't meet the criteria... we have asked if we are allowed consent to lease as a back up - we await the response... At least we are focused in our plans in our goal to go with our original plan and make it work - fingers crossed! Although we continue to be worried...
  8. So... in short we are all booked to fly out end of November, with holiday rental set up, job lined up to start in January on PR visa. All good, we have the visa's, nearly due to put notices in for work, move cube was packed up and collected last week with most our essential items. Last big hurdle -our house... not sold and we were (short sighted i know) banking on it selling to raise the extra pennies for settling in until I start my new job ie. buy 2nd hand car, deposit for a rental and rent up front, mobiles etc, Christmas...the list goes on and although we technically don't need thousands and thousands about 5k would have tided us over. So house sale fell through at this point and only 'settling in money we can raise would be in the next 9 weeks salary - just isn't going to cut it i think :-/ Really not sure what to do... I have lots of different options in my head - best case scenario - we have reduced our asking price on our house again and hope for a very quick sale; try to get a re-mortgage for a buy to let - but then we would need lots of safety certificates which would cost and end up with no 'lump sum' - unless i found a very good btl mortgage where i could take some equity out of the house; try to re-mortgage on a residential mortgage and request a small lump sum of equity to help us sell the property and continue to market it and pay the mortgage whilst it sits empty...; hand the keys back to the mortgage company and go with what we can manage to raise before we go worst case.. not emigrate in 9 weeks :-( Also I have the move cube which has been collected last week - although not shipped yet and is still in UK - not even sure if i could ask for it back and charges for it! We have paid our £200 deposit and our next payment is due now of £810 before departure...what a mess - dilemma's having a meltdown. Then worst case if we decide not to emigrate in 9 weeks and take a holiday instead (visa validation) work will not allow me the time off (not for 5 weeks) and the children would be classed as missing school, and the payment for flights back :-/ and we will be very sad :-( Any helpful suggestions?
  9. Hello :-) So its 2 weeks until our large move cube arrives and i'm looking through the paperwork. One of the questions is asking if any wood is being shipped and to list the items... So wooden items include...wooden bed slats for the base, wooden photo frames, the sofa base frame is wood, the wardrobes are wood, X 2 chest drawers pine i think, frame of a canvas print is wood, i have a couple of hand carved wooden items - i got from a shop in tenerife - so do i need to list all these on the form?? Not sure whats 'treated' and what's not... So confused... I asked the driver who did a site check today and he didn't know either :-/ Also just in case its checked and they say the wood needs treating how much is it? Thanks in advance x
  10. Hi Kitty kat, Pleased to hear about your plans; I hope something comes up for you :-) What kind of visa are you going on?? I'm unsure of what step to take next, and what visa would be best :-/
  11. Congratulations Kitty Kat - what are your plans now you have been approved by AHPRA?
  12. Woohoo! Got an email today from AHPRA saying ive been successful an eligable to work in Oz!! :-) Took total of 4 months x
  13. Don't think my certificates had my middle name either - didnt cause any problems - so fingers crossed for you :-)
  14. Bit excited - got an email saying that all my evidence has been been received and now it will get passed to a manager to be assessed to see if I can get AHPRA registration :-) fingers crossed
  15. Hi Memmymooch, I have PM you - hope thats okay :-) x
  16. I have emailed AHPRA back double checking if my clinical supervisor could do a reference (which would be on NHS letter headed paper) outlining what they want and then my line manager to countersign it, im hoping this would be accepted, Im waiting to hear back.:-/ Its the only thing I can think of but the different letter headed paper I think might be a problem... They also want the professional reference to state that I work as a nurse - Im not sure she can do this - as Im employed as a specialist young parent worker which needed a relevant professional qualification ie. nursing, social work etc to get the job, I undertake community based interventions/ assessments, pregnancy tests/consultations, referral to other agencies etc and I have maintained by NMC registration - so don't know what should be put in the reference to meet this criteria or how it should be worded??? Any suggestions?? AHPRA have given me till the end of January to get items to them - (she gave me a 2 week extension when I requested longer.)
  17. Hi, I have applied to AHPRA and have just been asked to provide more data. They have asked for another employment reference - specifically a 'current nursing/midwifery professional reference' however I do not work in the NHS and work for the local authority and none of my managers are nurses or midwifes as we are a multi-disciplinary team within Childrens Services. My employer has already provided a reference but is not a nurse or midwife. Advice please!!!!!! :-/ I have a deadline to provide the data
