  1. Hi is this opportunity still available?!? My husband is a qualified OT and we have wanted to move our family over to Australia for the last few years but registration is always a problem...Xxx
  2. Hi my husband is a newly qualified Occupational Therapist specialising in mental health...would you know if there is any vacancies for OT's?!? We have been looking at Melbourne for the last year or so...thank you Xxx
  3. Hi jac2011 I hope you don't mind me asking but what visa are you hoping to go on?!? You said you would like to go on a permanent visa...we are in a similar situation my husband is at uni at the moment studying to be an occupational therapist he qualifies next June 2015 we would like to go asap and preferably on a permanent visa...there is a strong possibility he will have a job to go over to but when I checked the visas it states he will need 3 years work experience...can you qualify get a years work experience and apply for a visa and move within the year?!? Sorry for waffling on...Emma x
  4. That's great definitely gives me more of an idea...its all so new obviously with him being covered under the NHS here...and he has always been our biggest concern...but I've been hearing how amazing the children's hospital in Melbourne is as one of his consultants told us yesterday that its one of the best in the world so that's reassuring
  5. Oooh another thing would any of you know what the charges could be for him to see a paed consultant twice a year? would that be something you normally get billed for or would insurance cover it? sorry if it sounds like a silly question but it sounds so different to the UK...thanks x
  6. Thanks I've just had a look on the list both his meds are on there and if I've read it correctly it looks like they would be approx. $50 a month (I think) so that's great it gives me something to work from.
  7. So would you know, if my son takes 2 different types of tablets a day, normally here they would be put on the same prescription and I collect them monthly, how much approx. that would be? Would they charge just for 2 items even though its enough for a months supply? Not paying for his meds here I'm not entirely sure how we would be billed here tbh.
  8. Wow! as much as that...this is one of the reasons why I posted this question...to try and find out roughly how much things cost. How many prescriptions was that for if you don't mind me asking Petals? As for the visa our plans were never to come over on a 457 but we are currently exploring all options...our next step will be to speak to a migrating agent and find out the best options for us as a family or whether its viable or not? There is a strong possibility that my husband will have a job offer to come over to but not sure he will be able to get a permanent visa as not enough work experience but will have a degree as an Occupational Therapist (which is on the list) so now is our time for lots more research...thank you all very much for your advice...its all appreciated whilst we are on this emotional rollercoaster of a journey Take care Emma x
  9. Hi thank you very much for your quick reply...we thought this wouldn't be a problem...initially we thought it would be but after talking to my sons paed consultant they said they had known other families that had emigrated with his condition so we assumed it would be ok...obviously I am now worried so will definitely take your advice and contact the agent you suggested...going to Australia for 2 years as a shirt term adventure wouldn't be an option as my older son is 11 this year so that would mean us returning as his exams start and I don't think that would be fair on him...thanks again for all your advice we really appreciate it Emma x
  10. Hi I'm hoping someone can help me with some advice...we are planning on moving to Melbourne next year...we were hoping on coming over on a permanent visa but it looks like we may be coming over on a 457 and going permanent after 2 years...the problem we have is my son (7) has a congenital condition which requires medication 3 x times a day and regular appointments with paediatric consultant normally every 4-6 months...at these appointments they may do blood tests and a yearly bone x ray of his hand...I'm trying to find out what the costs of his prescriptions could be also a rough idea of the paediatric consultant fees too...and whether we would be better to take out health insurance for him and whether they would cover him as its pre existing?!? Thank you for any info offered I'm not really sure where to look...I have been in contact with a paed consultant in Melbourne who was lovely but said he wouldn't know costs...thanks again Emma x
  11. We flew with Singapore airlines last year...the A380 was amazing...and the ladies on board couldn't do enough...my youngest son (who is 7) was sick on the plane before we took off so he didn't want to eat...the stewardess was really worried about him...she kept coming over to check he was ok...and because he didn't want to eat anything she brought him a lunchbox filled with crackers cheese cutlery water to take with us for our journey home...saying she wasn't sure how long it would take us to drive home and she was worried he would be hungry (she also gave us a second one for my other son)...we were so thankful as he was hungry 5 mins after leaving heathrow lol the whole experience was amazing and would definitely fly with them every time ) I cannot praise them enough...
  12. Thank you very much for your reply I will get busy googling the code and have a look Emma
  13. Thank you very much for your reply we really appreciate it would you know if you need work experience on the 186 employer sponsored visa?? Emma
  14. Hi I am looking for some advice for me and my husband...we spend a month last year in Melbourne...whilst there my husband had a few days shadowing at some local hospitals and clinics (he is an Occupational Therapy student studying at university in the UK) to see how different they are compared to the UK...he really liked one clinic he spent the day at and they seemed to really like him. The question we have is whether when he qualifies next year (2015) is there a visa he can apply for that would allow him to come to Australia with no work experience (as a graduate) the only graduate visa I could find is if you study in Australia...or if he found an employer that was happy to employ him as a graduate with no work experience is there a visa to suit?? thank you for any advice you can offer...I spend a fair amount of time on this site...the information is always helpful and everyone always seems so friendly...I just haven't posted very much (up until now!) hope you're all having a lovely day, Emma and Stuart
