  1. Has anyone had any luck with this? My test is on the 27th October and I need to reschedule for November, but when I try to reschedule online it just shows me October and says "no dates available". When I phone the number where you can theoretically reschedule, I get told it's not possible to reschedule over the phone and that if I can't reschedule online I will have to just miss this one and wait to get sent another one! Typical government inefficiency, but has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks, David
  2. Thanks everyone for the input. Very encouraging. We'll bring one over as baggage on our next flight.
  3. Thanks a lot. These are the fun and games I had last time, taking a UK cooker to Switzerland: http://www.englishforum.ch/housing-general/31790-500v-outlet-thingy-2.html Since this is only a hob, hopefully should be OK.
  4. We've just bought a house in NSW and would like to put an induction hob in the kitchen. The prices in Australia are huge, so we're thinking of bringing one from the UK where they are much cheaper, even with duty and GST etc. The question: Is there anything I need to know about Australian cooker electricity supplies? I have been burned before bringing a cooker from the UK to Switzerland where they run their cooker electricity really weirdly, even though they're on 230v, and in the end had to take the cooker back to the UK. Thanks in advance, David
  5. Thanks. I think we won't risk including her. There seems little point.
  6. Applying for PR. My wife and I are both GPs. Question about my wife's mother. She is 79, good health, has two children, lives with us, and we have been supporting her financially for years. Can she come in as a dependent person from the UK on our visa? One migration agent says yes and one says no way because she could fall back on the UK state so isn't strictly dependent and don't even think about trying it because it will gum up your own application. This second agent says this is meant for third world family dependents where there is no state welfare to fall back on. Comments gratefully received. Thanks, David
  7. Thanks, Jill. Much appreciated. Have some questions to ask of my migration agent.
  8. Just been told by our migration agent that because the UK High Commission will not let you book to have your medical prior to a PR application being lodged that this means you cannot therefore lodge a decision-ready application. Is this true? Is it therefore impossible to do a decision-ready application from the UK? This is the first I have heard of it from our agent.
