1. Hi, I am shocked at the work that my 11 yr old daughter is currently being sent home with.... 5 + 7 and what is the time etc. It is disgusting in my opinion. I have spoken to the teacher who agreed that the school is very behind compared to the UK system. We are now going to start looking at private schools as I can not stay and allow my daughter's education to be ruined. She was above average in the UK, working 2 years ahead of her age group. The teacher has stated that they all learn the same thing at the same time, regardless of ability but are encouraged to expand themselves when finished the topic. I asked my daughter what she has done when she has completed the work and she has been told to read her book and wait for the others to finish!! I know I may recieve back lash for theis post but it is an issue in WA.
  2. Hey Stu we moved into a rental for 7 weeks on Wednesday and then I started work on Thursday so its very interesting living somewhere and not knowing where anything is! At lease I have the weekend to explore. I bet you are glad it has cooled down a bit then if you have not had any aircon! We have been so tight with money but it does not seem to have made a difference and most of our savings have now gone. Just glad we have some money coming in now from my wages. What do you both do for work? Are you joining the meet up on king's park on the 19th January? Take care and speak soon Amanda
  3. Hey stu, my husband and I are in Rockingham so not too far. We only arrived on the 3rd December so still very new as well. How are you finding things so far? Amanda
  4. Hi Jenny the meets we have been to have been posted on Perth poms. I think someone is organising another 1 for the middle of January at King's Park. I know it's a little daunting to begin with but everyone has been so friendly and we are all in the same boat so it really does help Amanda
  5. Hi Guys we have been here for 4 weeks and have been on 2 meet ups on perth poms. They have been really good and have helped with the move so much, just to be able to talk to others in the same boat is such a weight of the shoulders knowing your not alone. Missynicola, we are moving SOR tomorrow and will not be too far from Secret Harbour, we will be in Rockingham. We have an 11 year old daughter, how old are your children? Amanda
  6. Hi Kelly I asked the same question of my shipping company last week! They emailed back stating that they will fill it in once they have the information. I completed the rest of the form, scanned it and emailed it back to them. Our belongings are also being collected on Monday!! Nerve wrecking isn't it. Amanda
  7. We will be staying NOR in Aveley (next to Ellenbrook) with family for a month then down to Rockingham from January. I am happy to travel around though as my friends and some family here in the UK live a fair distance and I like visiting new places. Feel free to PM me if you fancy chatting a bit more before I arrive Amanda
  8. Hi, i'd be up for that, I don't arrive for another 3 weeks so if the dates are around then, count me in! If not maybe I can tag along to a later date. Also in my late 20's with a husband and 11 year old in tow but I can leave them at home Amanda
  9. my understanding is that WA are currently recruiting. They are holding interviews next month in London
  10. Hi what do the agents want the money for? Is this the visa application. It is possible to do it yourself if it is a straight forward application. We managed to do it What are they saying you need £30k for??!! We do not have anywhere near that amount. Lots of luck to your partner, fingers crossed for them
  11. Hi not sure if this is of any help but I have seen an advertisment for a UK police recruitment drive in London in November for WA Amanda
  12. Hi, we move to Baldivis, Rockingham in Feb 2013. How is every one getting on with sorting everything out? We had John Mason visit on Thursday to advise us of shipping costs

My advice is not to use a migration agent, we didn't and it is just an extra huge cost. You find loads of useful info on here and people are always willing to offer advice.

I think it cost us just under £2000 to apply for the visa. I did have to sit the dreaded IELTS exam to gain extra points and this cost us about £120. We have used oz house rentals for our initial accom when we arrive. We only rent in the UK so no worries this end.

M only little bit of advice is to ask for an initial assessment with a migration agent who will tell you which visas you can apply for and the differences and then complete the process yourself.

Hope this all helps.xx

Hi

nice to hear from you, I remember all the anxious questions that you have! I'm aware that the visas have changed now so can only let you know how it has been for me on the 176 route. It may still be the same but please double check. I only have 2 years experience in Oct but WA only require 12 out of 24 months work experience to apply. It is the AASW that nearly stumped me as you are supposed to complete a 4 year degree, however, i did my degree and then my masters and they accepted this. I beleive that if you have more that 3 years employment then this outweighs the qualifications so you should be fine. Take a look on the AASW site for what they need and costs, think it was around £600. I work in CP in a duty team but previously worked in a long term team.

We are not being sponsored, it's state sponsorship. Where are you looking at going?

  18. How many years experience do you have as this plays a factor in which states do sponsor social workers. I am also a SW and we were granyed our visa last month. However we are not going until Feb, good luck with everything
  19. Tia2

    YES!!!

PS, why would it be weird? It's still classed as a short term rental and not with an agent such as real estate which would be near impossible to sort that out this end
  20. Tia2

    YES!!!

    check out oz house rentals
  21. Tia2

    YES!!!

Thank you so much, it all feels a bit unreal still!
  22. We have just secured a 12 month rental in Baldivis, Rockingham. Coming over in February 2013 and cannot wait!!
  23. PS he was not involved in any of this as I have no idea where he is and has not been in contact for nearly 9years
