  1. Thanks Dunscombe family mountain creek is one of the schools we have been chatting with, there's just a lack of rentals available in the catchment area. Can I ask why you moved from sunny coast to Gold Coast? Is it family orientated where you are now? Thanks
  2. Hey Brits, We currently live in Sydney and looking to move up to Queensland either Sunny Coast or Gold Coast. Would love some opinions on which you would choose to live and why? I am looking for suburbs in both regions that have a good state school for my 7 year old and are family friendly suburbs. Thanks Zoe
  3. thanks everyone, will have a look at the websites
  4. Hi all, Does anyone know of any good Mum and Baby groups to go to around Sydney? I'm in Waterloo but will travel as I can't seem to find any round here. Back in the UK we did rhythmtime, baby sensory, baby swim and playgroups, there was soooo much to do! Here there seems nothing but maybe I'm not looking properly. If anyone can help my 17 month old would much appreciate it lol
  5. Hi Star (and to all the other ladies) I have PM'd you as you responded to my post, I basically put the same thing as you! It's so hard trying to make friends here. I've had enough already. I had such a tight nit group of friends back home and even tho skype is great it's not the same. Feel for my kiddies as well as I can't seem to find any mums groups. Would just love to meet people for a coffee and chat and explore this city because as yet I'm not really enjoying it. Mail when you can and we can get chatting, hopefully arrange a meet
  6. Hey ladies, only been here since dec but as yet to make any friends here. Would love to meet, maybe do cinema, bars etc. Meets in the day would be fab to as I'm a stay at home mom with my daughter who's 17 months.
  7. Hey all, sorry I've not responded, my little one has been poorly. I'm def up for a meet. How far is Lilyfield from the CBD star1976? I'm glad I'm not the only one finding it hard to talk to people and meet people. Thought I'd chat to moms at my eldest school but the aussies congregate with the aussie, the chinese congregate with the chinese and us Brits are left, it's sad really Oh well, look forward to hearing from you all
  8. Hey I'm not too far from you (I think) I'm just passed Surry Hills in Waterloo. I've only been here a month but sure I saw woollengong (however u spell it lol) on a sign today while I was driving near home so don't think it's far. I'm 26 and a stay at home mom with a 1 year old and a 6 year old who starts school end of Jan. I'd def be up for a meet, let the kiddies play or take them to a baby group, as yet I haven't found any round here. Zoe
  9. I feel for you! 5 years is a long time. I've been here since the 3rd Dec and I'm going crazy without people to talk to! I'm giving myself a year and If I don't make any friends then we'll consider going home, the weather is not enough to keep me alone. I have some amazing friendships back in the UK and it's so hard starting again, I don't work here either (housewife and mom) so I can't even mingle with work colleagues and make friends. How do we do it? I find Sydney such a busy unfriendly place
  10. Hi, When I say I can understand how you're feeling I mean it. Our situation is similar although we got here end of Nov so not been here very long but the 'dream' of moving out here and having the 'better' life is exactly that, a dream! I do like it here but I miss my friends and family so much and so far I've found Sydney to be let's just say unfriendly. My husband and I have decided we will see how our eldest daughter settles into school and give it a year at least, that's the advice our family and friends have given us too and if we feel the same in a year and haven't built any friendships we'll go home. I don't want to rush home though because we're the same as you, we left our jobs, no house, no cars etc so we'd be starting again and that's a daunting aspect. I really feel for you but I'd give it at least a year. If you want to chat msg me and we can moan together lol Zoe
  11. Hey everyone, I'm Zoe, 26 and a Mom of 2. My husband has just been promoted here. We're from Birmingham and arrived here the beginning of Dec. We don't know anyone and it's so so hard to meet people and make friends. Would love to get chatting to other Poms maybe have meets, get kids together to play and my hub would love a man's man (lol) to pub with and chat about football and other boring stuff We live in Waterloo but have a car to go anywhere, my daughter is starting school in the Eastern Suburbs end of January so will be there frequently too. Have a good day all
