  1. My lodgement date was the 18th of January. I'm not sure about the processing centre. Sorry
  2. Hey just wanted to share my timeline as I have been following this thread for 9 months. We got our 186 DE granted today! We applied in January and used a migration agent. I know this question has been asked a lot but can I leave my employer straight away? I know I'm "obligated" to stay for two years but has anyone on this thread actually just left almost straight away? I've worked for the company for 2 and a half years. I'm not sure if that counts towards the obligation or not. Thanks
  3. hey guys just a quick question. I got an email from my migration agent today with a response from immigration stating that my application has recently been allocated to a team for assessment and a case officer will be in contact if further information is needed. my question is am I close to getting the visa approved or a while left yet? i am applying for a 186 business sponsored. Thanks for your help.
  4. yeah they have agreed to do the permanent visa. They sponsored me on a 457. i just want to hurry up and get pr.
  5. i am a floor finisher.
  6. hey just looking for some advice i have just been to a migration agent and i have been told i qualify for a pr visa. First i need to get a skills assessment. How easy is it to apply for this? I applied for my 457 and it was pretty easy and got granted within 5 weeks. the migration agent has quoted me more than double how much it would cost me if i done it myself. I'm just wondering whether i should just pay the money for the agent to do the full thing and have less to worry about or save myself thousands an d do it myself. To be honest i've had a look at the skills assessment requirements and it looks like it would be a hassle to do it myself. Thanks for your advice.
  7. Also how long would I be tied with the sponsoring employer if I done or through them?
  8. I live in Queensland so looks like state sponsorship is out the window. When you say you don't have to do a skills assessment of you have been here for two years do you mean two years on my current visa or two years in Australia working in my trade overall. I came over on a whv.
  9. Hi all i am currently sponsored on a 457 visa and looking to get permanent residency. I would just like a little information regarding whether i could apply for PR myself or if i have to use my employer again to get it. I am a floor finisher with nearly ten years experience. I saw on the consolidated skills list that floor finisher is still on it. I would prefer to do it myself and not be stuck with the employer for sometime. My 457 visa only got granted on february this year and for only two years as my employer may have made a mistake when applying for it. I’m unsure whether i would need to stay with the employer for two years before i apply for PR as that would take me to the end of my visa. Thanks for your help.
  10. Thanks for your information. I'm getting conflicting information about if I need a medical. I thought I wouldn't need one but someone else has said they needed one for a 457.
  11. Hi guys I'm currently on a whv but have been nominated for a position to be sponsored by my employer. I am now ready to lodge my application and will more than likely do the application myself with help from my employer. There are certain things I would like to clarify though, any help or advice from someone who has made there application themselves would be very appreciated. I'm not 100% sure if I need a police check from back home. Also if I would need a skills assessment as a floor finisher as I'm from the uk. I have a lot of documents like qualifications and my birth certificate are back in the uk. I'm not sure if a colour copy of the original would suffice or I would need to get them certified back home then sent over. I have a million questions and any help would be great. My girlfriend of 5 years would be going defacto on my visa too. Thanks a lot Steve.
