  3. Hey, My wife and I moved to Sydney last year and are having an amazing time here. We are on a permanent residence visa, and looking to make new friends Dave is from Newcastle originally and likes football, NRL, photography, travel, music, gigs, gym, loads of tv stuff and works in IT. Cat is from Liverpool originally and enjoys cooking, art, cocktails and travel. We are both 32 and have no kids, we live near the city. Hope to hear from you guys, Dave & Cat x

  6. Hi mate! How are you? Finally found somewhere, and ended up in Chatswood, we like it so far, but could do with a few more bars!! Took a while to get settled and was a few hectic months finding somewhere and then moving!
  7. Oh no! Whats the RSL? We like it so far, but its more thats it handy for shops in chatswood, and Lane Cove, and near the train line. I do wish it had more bars though, that serve some craft beer
  8. Indeed, we have one near us which is the Northern Bar. Happy to meet at the Rocks or wherever Where are you from originally mate?
  9. Have to admit we have been here 4 months and loving it. Would love to find a metal/rock bar, but am enjoying finding new cafes and craft ale bars. We have taken our time to settle in, getting a property to rent, jobs etc... but we feel there is so much to do and see. Happy days!! Loving the research, and yeah I am sure different people have different experiences. I would still wager 80% of people are happier here than in their previous UK life. It does seem to me its important to get the suburb right, as I guess it could be quite isolating out in the sticks and families on a lower income wont have the same way of life as those nearer the city. Maybe we should have a poll on here?
  10. Bit late on this thread, but I/we are up for beers, we are in chatswood but happily meet wherever! Hope everyone is well

Cat and I have been in Sydney for around 4 months now, and have finally settled in North Sydney. We would love to meet other couples, or individuals (Aussie and Brits) Drop me a private message or reply to this thread. Hope to hear from some of the Sydney people! Have a good week! Dave
  12. Hey, Its been a while since I been on here! Hope everyone is well. My toyota celica has arrived in Australia, but am struggling to find insurance for the car. Can anyone recommend car insurance company/ies for a car imported from the UK to Australia? Many thanks, Dave
  13. Oh no! I quite fancied Maroubra, I guess I will have to keep on looking, I think $850 is the max I want to go. Fingers crossed I can find something
  14. Haha, I did indeed! Good memory!!! My container is due to arrive soon, and at the moment I have no garden to mow!
  15. How about Kingsford? Any thoughts on this area?
  16. Yeah, wife keeps harping about Concord too. I think Coggee and Lane Cove is the way forward, but property market is a bit slow I like the look of Neutral Bay too. Cheers for the advice!
  17. Hi, I am new to Sydney too, and am looking at decent rentals up to $850 a week. I quite fancy Lane Cove, Coggee, and Neutral bay, but not much coming up at the moment. We are considering Chatswood and Concord, i am a IT Contractor and am working in Ultimo at the moment, but not going to be there long term. Can anyone recommend some good areas? Ideally looking for 3 bedrooms, garden, and garage. Cheers in advance guys! Dave
  18. Hey Guys, Arrived in Sydney on July 19th and loving it so far!!! I am looking forward to meeting fellow poms soon!! Quick question - We have arrived here and are staying with friends but have not secured a property yet, our container (half full) is due to arrive in 2 weeks and I think I am going to need to to store it before we get a place to live. Can anyone recommend a storage company in and Sydney? We are looking to move to Lane Cove, Neutral Bay or Coggee. Any advice would be great! Thanks, Dave

  21. I am getting excited, i thought it was going to be a bit cooler and raining. I will quite happy not bring the UK weather with me! Opera bar looks like it does some nice beers too! I can't wait Whats a SOH shop?
  22. I have actually spoke to CXC before, they seem on the ball, but some of the estimates i got given were based on the LAFHA which is no longer going. Still a good company though!
  23. I am not much futher on to be fair, and I am heading out in a few weeks. Most of the accountants I have contacted have not replied CXC seems ok? I am avoiding Lesters, they seem more beneficial if you require sponsorship. I am looking at PAYG setup in Australia, but am likely to need an accountant. The search continues!
