I suggest and I dont know where you are in the UK but a call to Australilan Embassy in London or visit since you would be filing in UK and then have your partner send his papers to you. FYI they lost some of ours that wanted proof we had domiciled together for the period bank account with both names, mail I received at her address so that proved we were living together. You can contact me for more informartion I will try to answer it if I can - best of luck but since you are in UK it might be different the forms are straight forward and there is no need for an agent really a waste of money. I promise you you two can fill them in. You can always make the boyfriend/partner go to the local office they were really great with me and helpful until they lost the papers. Just for the record we originally met on the net it was 2 years until we met we are still together now coming on 5 years...there is hope.

Krissy..hi sorry about your situation at home - i hope it all works out for the best. My name is Steve and I came to be with my partner who lived here I was in the Uk she is an Aussie with a great academic job. I came on a non working holiday visa as I was over 45. We lived together i kept renewing the visa up until 9 months then wwe complied all the stuff application, police checks which for me meant USA FBI, and State as well as UK and Australian Federal police. We filed in Adeliade and and it was moved to Perth for processing. They told me that since I was here we could file after 9 months they then give you a bridging visa while the process takes 6-9 months beforew you are granted a temporary de-facto which we now have. That lasts up to 2 years before permanent. It was $2500 for the visa then now about $3000 and medical and that was $500 here.

If you don't have humour...as they say "larf I almost bought a round". Got me humour from me old man, my dad was born within the sounds of Bow Bells, so pack up your troubles in your kit bag and smile smile smile.
