  1. I suggested in the other thread that there is a new budget airline that flys from Sydney & Gold Coast to Singapore at very reasonable rates... you could use them for example, to get to Singapore and then get a return from Singapore to London at the Singapore price... We are doing this the other way round (one way) when we come out in two weeks; Single to Singapore with Singapore Airlines then a single from Singapore to Gold Coast on FlyScoot... saved us loads.
  2. This may not be for everyone but you could try buying a return ticket from Singapore to London and use a budget airline to get yourself to and from Singapore from Perth. May work out cheaper... We have just booked one way to Singapore from London with our onward to journey to Gold Coast with a new budget airline. Worked out much cheaper than going the whole distance with Singapore airlines.
  3. Good luck. We arrive in Brisbane 18th July!
  4. Great response, thanks everyone. I will look into some of these this evening. OHs employers will contribute towards 4 weeks worth of temp accomodation when we arrive which'll be useful, doesn't stop us from hunting a bargain though... Thanks again Mat
  5. Thanks Cal. I knew it was expenisve but didn't realise just how expensive; now that we've come to start looking for accomodation it's hitting home a bit. Exchange rate has become less favourable this week too - just have to start working ASAP!
  6. Can anyone recommend some short term accomodation/holiday rentals fairly close to or within easy reach of the CBD? There will just be the two of us moving mid July and we need somewhere to stay until we find a full time rental. Considering the YHA hostel, has anyone stayed here? Would rather somewhere for just the two of us but this could be a fairly low cost option. Thanks
  7. Any independant phone shop will do it for around a tennar. Just had mine done. Tried to do it my self but not successful because my computer is rubbish... best thing to do is type in a search engine something like 'unlock iphone' or 'unlock galaxy S' and watch the you tube video tutorials. The website of XDA is where you can download the necassary programs to unlock your phone although the videos on youtube often provide a direct link to the relevant program.
  8. We'll be there mid July, especially interested in TVs & mountain bike... When are you moving?
  9. Hi Holmesy999, thanks for your reply. What brings you back to the UK then? I guess my questions are the obvious ones but will message you if we have any others... How is the commute into Brisbane? What are the amenities like? Do you get to the coast often and is it easy enough to do? Do you make use of the national parks near by often? Thanks Mat
  10. Hi, My wife & I are moving to Brisbane in July from Cardiff. I'm 29 and she is 28. Just wondering if there are any other couples of a similar age on here who are already out there and wonder: How much you enjoy it? Where you live and what it's like there? What kind of activities have you taken up & what you do on the weekends etc? We are looking at living in Draper, Pullenvale or the Samford Village area... does anyone know these areas? What are they like? Looking forward to any feedback Mat02920
  11. Hey! Exciting news, OH has a job offer at Princess Margaret Hospital in Perth. Any nurses on here work there?
  12. Hi, Maybe we're being impatient but my OH is struggling to find Paediatric nursing roles in Aus, they seem to be harder to come by out there? (we're in UK) Just wondering if anybody already in an Aus hospitals know if they are recruiting Paeds nurses? Thank you in advance
