  1. yeah sure is feels great so much to do..in oz I went to every state apart from NT and every single place is the same as the last boring is an understatement
  2. Hi there thanks yeah already booked up for one of my fav places Whitby in march for a few days
  3. yeah it is why would you say that it's in black and white mate I'm not slagging oz schools off its a young country hence there behind on most things schooling bieng one of them
  4. Well folks an update ive not been on here since we left oz in October, been way to busy so here goes l had a few run ins on here with people about prices in uk/oz I was right at the time but I knew I was...we had nearly 5 years in oz and enjoyed so much of it but I feel my reasons for coming home have been justified.the first thing me my wife and son did after checking into our hotel in London was get fish and chips served by proper real people amazing.the next day we returned home we were exited but nervous and slightly worried as what to expect.but as they say down under it was too easy warm welcoming people who are so genuine and just generally easier going.the weather was cold how great we felt about this.people say to us still ... Why have you came home to this cold gloomy weather I laugh to myself knowing what I know people watch wanted down under etc and believe it really is like that, folks thinking of moving its nothing like that ...it's overpriced the worst driving you will ever ever witness ...the schools are at least 2years behind the uk and it is the most racist place I've ever been...that said the money is good(has to be to be able to afford things)...the weather is nice if that's what rocks your boat.the houses look nice but are poorly made.. would I do it again yes defo but soooo glad we're home ASDA is a pleasure the lakes the yorkshire dales look around you folks before going its all here in your hands .... Good luck to anyone moving down under and I mean that genuinely but take plenty of money with you and be prepared to be shocked...
  5. surprise surprise another platinum member saying im lying if i can work out how to put a picture on here i will
  6. you dont know me or nothing about me i have been coming here for years lived here nearly 5 there is a family member who is dying of cancer which is the main reason we are going back the whole world is different mate we all dont agree on everything
  7. your bieng rude stop showing off cos you live in australia and love it get over yourself big deal who gives a f....&....this person came on here for help and advice thats all ive tried to do ive shown you examples you havent shown me any so what stop bieng so predictable what would i gain from scar mongering? hey come wed im outa here makes no odds to me i was just trying to help
  8. 50p for Heinz just doubled checked it on asda website i never bought the quality street but did take a photo of it in the shop which i still have i go to coles everyday and safeway and its not $3 for soup unless its on special i also dont eat cheap crappy foods so please dont be rude it dosnt make you look big n hard but small and childish it is what it is thats it..
  9. i tin of quality street $89! 5 quid in asda! 2 ltr bottle of ribena $13 in safeway 2 quid in asda! tin of soup $4 in safeway 50 pence in asda i could go on but am not here for an argument im stating facts and i never meant every single item was 4 times more just most things...this is my experience im trying to give advice to people not get roped into an argument..if you live here you will know its vastly more expensive than the uk im not saying that is good or bad im just replying to the question
  10. dont listen to people who say its about the same its not it dosnt depend on how much you earn if you earn a good wage the stuff is the same price as if you dont earn a good wage..truth is most things are 4 times more expensive theres 2 major supermarkets coles and safeway the others are cheaper but bad quality netto springs to mind...im going home next week after nearly 5 years (thank god) one of the reasons is expense and between me and my wife we earn at least $150,000 a year its just a myth the grass is no greener for us anyway ..please bear this in mind this is just are experience i genuinely hope things work out for you
  11. i leave to go home to uk next week(thank christ) and im already not missing anything lol
  12. As the headline says 6 days left .. I can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel!
  13. when i talk to people back in the uk they say you must be mad coming home you live near a nice beach?????? we dont live on the beach its a myth that we only found when we moved here
  14. my advice would be no! its not all its cracked up to be..we came on holiday and loved it..the problem is the expense when i say expense i mean it..it is utterly shocking ,im all for adventure its what ive done all my life but if your settled in the uk stay put.its very boring here once you have been here a while...we move back in 2 weeks and cannot wait...people say the uk,s in a bad way ...you know what i have never known it any different weather it was when thatcher was butchering the country or blair was invading the middle east i never had anything then so it wont be a problem....factories are closing here just the same...its not all doom and gloom here dont get me wrong there is some nice places but everywhere is the same , the people are rude the driving is shocking and the racism is something you will be took back by
  15. yeah i suppose i better south eastern subs melbourne
  16. Hi there, has anyone got any cases or a large bags they dont need anymore or are willing to sell, as we are moving back to uk. Thanks pm me cheers
  17. hi mate i work in a dairy and am in melbourne till 3 weeks tomorrow ........
  18. yes i have probably not said that well....i have around 3 friends here that i would call friends i know lots of people who i work with but don't regard them as good friends...and it is everyones own experiences ,out of the 3 close friends 1 is polish 1 is of polish parents and the other is full Aussie, this dosnt hold much relevance other than they have been the most welcoming...its the blatant racism i find so hard to deal with...example..we had a casual at work last week he was indian,a very smart clever well presented kid of about 25...i was showing him the ropes and helping him settle in.at break time (bearing in mind the young fella was in the canteen at the time) i walked into the canteen to the chorus of here he is the blackie lover the n.....er lover i was virtually in tears not for myself but for the poor kid sat eating on his own .....at the end of the shift the guy in charge asked me how the kid went i said he was fine blah blah...so he got asked to come back the next day...i have never heard the last of it since.....being welcoming and friendly to me means being welcoming and friendly to all people wherever there from,....sorry if I've ranted on a bit but this is a true story and makes me sick to the bone,,,,
  19. you say it enough times you,ll start believing it
  20. i have to agree howard i dont know the guy and am not a nasty person ....but this is supposed to be a site for advise and support this guy just causes sooooo much arguing it needs to stop ,im afraid it wont as hes very pro australian and if you speak against him to much you get banned as i did.he needs to join a forum for people who have been on holiday here and enjoyed it
  21. dont be too hard on yourself the Aussies are very hard to get along with so making friends is hard, but at the end of the day its close family ie wife kids etc that are your real friends ,sounds like your having second thoughts?we leave in 3 weeks (thank god)after nearly five years and their will be some stuff i miss ,regarding Facebook etc its good and bad i suppose it works both ways,as for melbourne all i can say is I've been to every state here and melbourne is by far the best, thats just my opinion, best of luck anyway
  22. your not listening im saying $65,000 is nothing in australia i never mentioned the uk but been as you have again tried to twist things here goes 22 grand in the uk will go much farther in the uk than $66,500 will do in australia you have no idea of the cost of living here as you don't live here,
