  2. e well how are you getting on wit the gap training? eprofiling system? you think it can be completed within the year?
  3. i second the writing to ES about this, surely whv should complete gap training and pr/vetassess otsr should go back to doing the original system.. its all wrong!!!
  4. well how r u getting on now? any updates on the job start?

  8. crowded house have you arrived yet? r u going to do the 2 week in poly b4 the job starts? reguards the books colin, r they the same books that was needed for the original 2 week at CET, iv a mate that did that course and has all the books waiting for me? cheers
  9. fare play to ya.. and your mate for helping ya out.. best of luck
  10. this is also the last email from poly i received.... Basically the gap training is achieved by completing a two week course upfront, with some external studies and a final Capstone run over a four day block. Plus you may need to do further training depending on meeting the requirements for an elective or not. The course starts every month and how long it takes is then up to you. The fee is the same whether you are a permanent or 457/176 visa holder and that is approximately $2,000.00. You are better off getting the on the job going as soon as possible to complete the required hours. This could take 12 months or even less than 6 months depending on the type of work you are doing.
  11. so whats ur plan of action now? just go the poly route, and start work in mines? have they agreed to complete the log book for you?
  12. we should all gang up on energy safe... crowded house u r main app arent u?
  13. Trades people currently holding an Offshore Technical Skills Record (OTSR) will need to complete Australian context training and a period of supervised employment prior to applying for an Australian Recognised Trade Certificate (ARTC).Upon arrival in Australia tradespersons in licensed trades who hold an OTSR are required to work under the supervision of a licensed tradesperson and undertake Australian context training to gain Australian specific knowledge such as occupational health and safety regulations, wiring rules, codes of practice and other Australian standards. For OTSR holders who choose to apply for an ARTC before completing their Australian context training and supervised employment, TRA will notify the relevant Local Committee if the applicant has not met their OTSR training and supervised employment requirements, where the required Australian specific knowledge of that trade is incomplete.Where a Local Committee deem that the evidence before them indicates an applicant has insufficient trade training and experience they will refuse to grant an ARTC.ARTC applicants with an OTSR will need to provide Local Committees with evidence that they have completed their OTSR requirements. For further information on the next steps for OTSR holders please see the Information Sheet : Licensing at: Useful Links. R U CHOOSING TO IGNORE THIS??
  14. glad to seen this thread is sorted, id be lost without it. here comes the ???? can you apply for the ARTC from uk if youv a wa address? if and when recieved, apply for the re-strict licence through energy safe? hoping the letter they send back gives the go ahead for the 2 week course to be booked in the CET balcatta/jandakot? they have dates avail every 2 weeks in either college and cheaper rates for PR... so basicially all that vetasses crap was just to get ur visa then no help after that, awk they need to sort it out, it dosnt even make sense anymore. cheers for the info, and good luck for the big day. :-)
  15. Great news on the job offer, I take it u have contacts there?? So what's your plans with this course stuff? I emailed the polytechnic & reply stating 170 hrs, then 12 month log book. Wtf!!!! Does this mean attending college as a student for 170 hrs... What's the deal wit you going to mines? As a TA then can they do ur log book. Did I read somewhere the cost of the course at polytechnic is $1700.. Money spinner I'm thinking. My reply email didn't make much sence so I couldn't be bothered sending another. What is your next step then?
  16. thanks for that info were looking at next year anyway so going by the oz xmas hols feb will be them opening again.
  17. crowded house what exactly did polytechnic say was the procedure to obtaining this dam licence. head slightly confused by all these changes again!!!!
  18. i have read some negative posts about them so double double check everything even by ringing perth balcatta college to make sure.
  19. yes this sounds right.. but have you researched any jobs yet? they all state WA ELECTRICAL LICENCE essential so how can you complete a 12 month log book via an employer and college if they wont take restricted licences on?? i have my restricted licence and im still in uk, i was hoping that by completing the vetasses, get my restricted licence, and then being able to book the grade A course upon arrival id get my licence and that would be it, up untill a few weeks ago that was the case now its all changed..
  20. iv received exactly the same as yourself, its a joke, vetassess, energy safe, cet, and now polytechnic, how many different people do you have to go through?? surely this meeting will see PR that have gone through vetassess in the uk don't need to become apprentices again and esp with all there qualification, college certs, references.. very confused!!!!
  21. hi, still in uk, and applied for restricted licence in WA with the vetassess OTSR, got it posted to an address in perth and it states, GAP TRAINING- to be eligable for an electrical licence you are required to provide a copy of your cert 111 in electrotechnology electrician issued by vetassess. please contact the following registered training organisation (RTO) to arrange gap training POLYTECHNIC WEST (BALGA CAMPUS) anyone else received this info? basically does this mean from reading prev posts that iv to do 12 months as a TA before i can apply for the grade a licence, that all jobs advertised are looking?? was the point of doing vetassess in the uk and forking out all that money to do the practical and being told that my trade was now recognised in wa a waste of time and effort and money.. that when i land in wa iv to beg to be taken on as a TA and work like this for 12 months before i become an electrician with a full licence.. At the beginning and up on till a few weeks ago the OTSR was a cert that allowed you to obtain the restrict licence, then once receiving that i could then book the 2 week course at the electrical college and get my licence... could someone that has landed in perth or spoke to someone in wa enlighten me on this situation before i ring the college and speak to someone that dosnt know what there talking about.. thought it was all to good to be true!!!! skill-shortages?? im thinking this is only going to get worse as uk qualified sparks can't just go and do the 2 week licence course and start working with all the legal papers that is needed...
  22. its cheaper if your PR i think its around $300. if ur temp visa then yes the larger amount... Wat do u mean by gap trainning?
  23. briliant glad yous got house sorted.. wat area r ya for? we know NOR pretty well after staying there in 2010. have good few mates up that direction. energy safe should have my stuff now so just wait to see if it goes through alrite, was looking at doing them courses here in ire b4 heading over but prob better to do there in wa, as they don't seem to b interested in uk certs. i did the white card online last sat so thats done and was posted to mates address in perth. is there much to study from them books?
  24. yea iv heard that about the rentals alright.. they may start building more houses to accommodate all these poms coming over.. sent away the forms to a friend in perth so she's posting them on monday, least u havnt long to wait till ur course august isn't it? id say if an employer knows you are booked in for course they'd prob take ya on, bet ur glad u did all from the uk, so u can concentrate on the other stuff.. good luck and keep us posted on ur findings..
