  1. If you hold a driver licence from an ‘experienced driver recognised’ country and you are under 25 years of age you will be required to undertake and pass the theory and practical driving tests prior to the grant of a WA driver’s licence. http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/licensing/20669.asp
  2. If she has passed her driving test in the UK, she will fly an Aussie test. IMO the standard of driving here is appalling. An Aussie driving licence is much more a form of id rather than a certificate of competence for driving
  3. I e-mailed pay-role last week, no response. I e-mailed the national HR manager to day, this has been passed back down to my old PM who has asked me to a meeting on Thursday. I fly out next Wednesday. I think that I'll be in touch with Fair Work Australia. Thanks
  4. I move back home next week. My old firm still owe me 1 weeks’ wages (they paid the rest), also they owe me rent money that was deducted from my final salary payment - that should never have been. I think that they are hoping that I will be on the far side of the world and there is bugger all that I would be able to do about it. We're talking about 4k dollars. I don't want to go down the route of a solicitor as they might eat up all that I am owed. What can I do about this??
  5. So if a bloke is out of work for say 6 months, cannot afford to do bugger all, is offered the chance of a 457 visa, where the company will fly him and his family over, with the chance to start afresh, in your opinion, he should stay where he is. Complete nonsense
  6. I feelreassured that if the rules were changed tomorrow morning for PR visa holders, with a hefty financial kick thrown in, there would be no complaining, as it would be all for the good of Australia and its citizens
  7. In it's simplest form, if you're occupation is on SOL then you can apply for 189 independant visa, go where you like. But on CSOL you need to go for 190 which requires you to get State Sponsorship (SS) which requires you to move to your sponsoring state for a minimum 2 years. http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/169543-csol-sol-lists-whats-difference.html
  8. We got a loan from NAB for a car, and we're on a 457. We had to show proof of income, our projected expenditure etc. No problem
  9. Let them fume away. If goods were not so expensive to buy in Australia, people wouldn't shop on line to buy better quality and cheaper goods
  10. I was told that there is a 35% tax http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/superannuation/ http://www.australiansuper.com/search.aspx?searchterm=Apply%20for%20a%20payment%20(temporary%20residents) The first link Issued by AustralianSuper Pty Ltd ABN 94 006 457 ... is what was sent to me
  11. Now there is a conspiracy theory . I paid a lot more tax than Super, and got less benefits than a citizen or a holder of PR visa. Super money is not Government money, it is my money, so that I wouldn't be a drain on the state. Forced savings for old age if you like
  12. I just e-mailed my super fund about withdrawing my super and returning home. this is what the e-mail response was: The option to withdraw your Superannuation Fundsafter departing Australia is only open to members who are not citizens ofAustralia or New Zealand. Nothing there about PR
  13. I can't believethe amount of venom directed against 457 visa holders on this site. A lot of it seems to be from posters who have PR, and hate the thought of people coming over on 457, who they think may have had an easier ride or may not have spent the same amount of money. I have seen a few posters post that "I spent a lot of money... well so what!! try and not be so nasty. Someone else made the comment, that PR were potential voters, well so could 457 visaholders be potential voters. This is rubbish legislation, that nobody could have foreseen, not even the wonderful visionaries on this site that have PR. If they can change the rules for the 457 visa holders without thinking of the consequences, they can just as easily do it for PR visa holders. You are not a protected species. Rant over......
  14. I have a Primary Visa HolderGuaranteed Annual Earnings: $xx. written in the NOTIFICATION OF THEGRANT OF A SUBCLASS 457 VISA mail. I would have thought that is all the employer has to comply with
