Does anyone know about dependent children immigrate with parents on Pr 143? Do they have to pay the second fee as well? and do they have to pay for school fee on the first two years/ or ten years they are in OZ? Thank you a lot.

Hi Val, Do not send it to PVC, but send its copy only; so they know that you have it already. Then when you have CO they will ask for the original, you send it to CPV, attention it to the CO.

Everyone who is worried about this issue should send an email to CPV to querry. I believe they will make it clear to you that: -the sponsor does need to have PR at time of lodgement (so if no PR at time of lodgement, then the application will be refused - I am sure), -and the sponsor does need to be in Oz for 2 years (legally on any temp visa, I am sure)- and settle (by proving with job/ houses/ cars/ children enrolling at school... I am not sure which one will be enough). So if the sponsor has not been in Oz for at least 2 years on a legal visa, the application will be refused. But if the sponsor has been in Oz for at least 2 years even just on any kind of temporary visa, then when gets PR, the sponsor applies for a CPV, it will be ok. I did check this with a friend who had been in Oz 2 years as a dependent on her husband who was a student. She got a full time job then had PR. 10 days after having PR, she applied for her parents CPV and got it last month. Regarding migration agents, many of my friends have bad experience. Some lost their chance to have a PR, some had to apply for another one, some had to take it back..., So please be careful with them, the best way we can do is to double check. I hope this helps someone who is worried. @liverpoolloo: I think you are eligible to apply for the CPV right now. If you are still not sure, just check with PVC so you do not have to wait more. Pls read booklet 3, we see that sponsor need to have PR, and need to be settle 2 years. But also it says that settle mean leaving in OZ for 2 years, even on a temp visa (page 4: to meet settle requirements, a person must have been lawfully resident in Australia for a reasonable period, usually 2 years.). So I think, if someone who is a PR has been in OZ on a temp visa (no need to be on a PR visa)for more than 2 years, it will be ok. However, even a citizen but do not settle, it may not be ok to sponsor a PV?

hi, From what I understand, to sponsor for a CPV you need to be a PR and you need to have settled in Oz for at least 2 years. You do not need to be a PR on that 2 years, as long as you stay in Oz on a legal visa and you "settle" (job, permanent address etc) it will be fine. Anyone who has experience on this, please confirm. I came from one of "countries which do not provide state pensions", mum is single and I am her only child. We (hubby and kids) used to live with her till we came to Oz on a student visa, and surely we paid for everything but we did not have evidence. She came with us on some tourist visa... Her dependency was refused with the reason that "she needs to live with you 24/24"! that's what I was told.

hi, I think she will not be considered your dependent because the criteria are very strict. In her case, she has 2 children so she will not meet the criteria. Anyway, you can include her in your application. If she is not considered your dependent, they will ask you to take her name out, that 's all. That's what happened to my application. cheers.

hi valandmatt, May I know how you did to have the hap ID number to front load the medical? I assume you have not have a c/o yet. Or is there any tip to get around this hap ID number? (I remember we discussed this issue while ago) Thank you

HAP ID is on the letter IMMI sends to people who apply for PARTNER VISA, and when we have that, that means we have a c/o. So I guess that it happens the same with parents visa. That 's why I have asked someone who have it, please confirm. A bout a month ago, scroogemacduck and someone discussed about receiving an email asking them to do medical, police clearance... but without a real co. (you can re read it ) about 17/1 based on scroogemacduck input on the tracker. I have noticed that den_pat who did the medical, ASO well before getting a co (or a letter ask him/her to do so) just have a VAC req on 15/3, so that actually means we can frontload medical and ASO as long as we can make it!! it 's really confusing.:mad:

hi, The hap id number is on the letter that DIAC sends to you to ask you to do health check, police check, and AOS- It is not in the letter of confirmation. People who have received the the letter asking for health check... please confirm, thank you. @JohnAndEirian: I have noticed that you have just had a C/o on the tracker. May I ask that it is a "real c/o" , or it is just a letter from the DIAC asking you to do the health check.. ect.. Thank you.

Please read the booklet as suggested. In your case, the tourist visa and the 173/143 are 2 separate things so there will be no bridging visa from the tourist visa to stay in Oz to wait. Yes, they have to live with you as dependents, or it seems that they may not need to but still dependent on you... (just read ATO website), so you still can have tax offset...It's the tax offset, not anything with the visa payment. But still money, if you look at it that way :biggrin:

Thank you Linday. I agree with most of them, however, a little bit different from what I understand: 4 The CPV is not cheap and many parents have had to sell the family home to pay for it. Some have found they cannot afford to buy here and have had to rent. It depends on how much they want to be with family. Others may be able to give you a bit more insight: if you are Asian, it is quite common that your parents will live with your family. In this case, you will have some return from tax office. Check at ATO website. Over the years, it seems that you can have the payment back, partially, sure. 5. You can apply for the CPV onshore, if you don't have the 'No Further Stay' condition, but you need to be offshore when it is granted: You do not need to be offshore if the application is an onshore one. But in this case your parents are still "young" not aged parents, so they are not eligible to apply for an onshore parent visa. I am not sure about this, hope that someone may help: when will they be eligible for a healthcare card? This is just in case they fall sick Thank you.

hi John and Joan, From reading in this forum I understand that when the visa granted you will have the day on the visa by that day you have to enter Oz to validate your visa. Normally it will be 12 months from the day of police clearance or medical examination whichever is sooner. Regards,

Yes, that's it. And I also remember some weeks ago (about 30/8 or 1/9), johnemo posted on this forum that he sent an email to DIAC to complain that someone behind him had had the visa, and he got a c/o right after that email. I think a feed back on the system http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/forms/services/services-form.htm will work well for you, esp if MikeMavis is happy to give his file number as evidence. Could anyone please give me some information regarding the way we pay for the 2nd fee? It seems that we can make that payment by using online/ internet transfer? so that means it just take 2 days for DIAC to receive it? I am living in Oz and will pay that from my bank account, so it would not be a problem? (I thought that I had to use cheque or something like that and I am a little bit worry that it may go somewhere!) Thank you.

Dear dundazi, As my understanding, there is no way for you to apply for an aged onshore visa. I am sorry to say that. Once they have given you a "no further stay" , they will give it to you for all the tourist visas you apply from now on. May I suggest you to apply for a contributory visa (offshore, of course), visa 173 or 143. I am not sure you know about it or not, but for the 173, it costs you less, then when you are in OZ, you can apply for an onshore visa 173 to 143. Regarding the finance, I think if you apply for the 20 years waiting off shore visa and have to fly back and forth, then the cost will be not much different if you pay at one for the contributory (esp if you have to buy health insurance in Oz- maybe UK people do not have to buy this?). Furthermore, if in future, your health is not good enough to pass the medical check, even the tourist visa they will not grant for you nor the PR. In addition, when you are in OZ as a PR and if you live with your children, they can have some money back from tax, so it will not too bad though. I am applying a CPV for my mother who is aged as well so my knowledge is not like an immigration agent although i believe it is correct. Wish you all the best.

Hi there, From the website and from looking around on many websites, I understand that for your parents (or your parent?)to apply for a 143, 1. you must be a PR or a citizen 2. AND you have settled in Oz lawfully for at least 2 years. Settle, we have to prove that by working history, children enrolling on school etc. So, if you have settled in Oz for 2 years on another visa (such as 457 visa or something else..) and now you have just had your PR, your parents can apply for the 143 right now. You then will need to meet the AOS requirements to be the assurer for your parents as well, if not you have to have someone to be the assurer for them. That is what I understand. If someone reads this and know well about it, please confirm for us. Thank you. In my case, i came to OZ as a student dependent, and then have been working from 2008 for a company, then got the PR by that skills on Feb 2011. I have applied 143 for my mother. Thank you for replying Ann. There was a guy posting on this forum that on his parent's knowledgement letter in August, they said all applications up to June 2011 already had a co. That is why I try to have some confirm from someone else, just to have a little bit more hope. Thank you Mike. This may be the reason why many applications were so quick at the end of the last finanial year. So hopeless that they will do it quicker. I just hope that they can make it quicker! My mother is 68 and living alone in Vietnam with me as her only child here in OZ.:SLEEP: @ PhoebeW: It is so sad for you, just need to deter 6 ms more. I hope the future will be better.
