  1. In our case, we didn’t have a temporary visa, it was from the date that the permanent visa was granted. (Subclass 103). The calculator is good start.
  2. Hi Qflyer. I'm no expert, but according to a couple of websites I've looked at, it means legally resident in Australia. They don't say anything about being in one particular area. All the best But what does “settled” mean? Australia’s migration legislation provides that “in relation to an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen, (settled) means lawfully resident in Australia for a reasonable period.” Unfortunately, “a reasonable period” is not also defined within legislation.
  3. Hi All. there is a calculator here https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/tools/residence-calculator which tells you if you qualify with dates etc. We were surprised that we could apply earlier than we thought and, as a result have our ceremony on the 7th Sept.
  4. Hi Sadge When we got ours, it was only 2 years then, it was the date that we started to live here permanently i.e. physical residence. Good luck,
  5. Thanks Freesia. Celebrations will take place when we get to Oz in 3 weeks. Son's stag day is already planned. Golf, bowling, snooker and dog racing in the evening. For info, the queue calculator still shows 2400 people in front of us, so it's obviously a bit out of date. Probably after it's hiccough from a couple of months ago. Take care
  6. Hi Everyone. Just thought I'd update you on the status of our Parent Visa Subclass 103. Our lodgement was in August 2006 and we were placed on the queue in November 2007. Received instructions in January, this year, to complete another dreaded Form 80, get meds and police checks done. Our son did the AoS pretty quickly and it all adds up to us getting our visas this morning, so you can imagine how happy we are. We already had flights booked for a visit in April for our son's wedding so this will now be our validation entry. Whooooopppppeeeee!!!!
  7. I know I haven't posted a lot, since being a member, but thought I'd pass on our good news. We have been assigned a case officer and our parent visa 103 should be granted, so long as health is ok, by April. Our queue date was Nov 2007, so 6 and a half years waiting wasn't too bad. Good luck to everyone else who is on the list.
