  1. You carry on......edit/change what you like.....lets not let a few hard facts get in the way of your story telling......
  2. Debatable?.....why are they debatable.....they are facts that are widely available for everyone to read.....I think its always beneficial to be in possession of the facts before going to print.....mind you all the that sensationalising is a guaranteed crowd pleaser. I'm not "asserting" anything. "Debatable".....or....."not in dispute"......make your mind up.....
  3.......are you serious? The UK's UV levels never go above 8......in fact 8 is extremely rare.....7 may occur but normally during the 2 weeks around the summer solstice.....the only time I can remember seeing 8 is whilst living in Perth and it was not uncommon to see at 13. 7 or 8 during May/June....I have heard it all now lol
  4. I agree.....clever b'strd.....wish my brain was as articulated as the OP's and I had the ability to put down my thoughts and opinions with the same affect.
  5. If its generalisations you want.....you have come to the right place. I see it a bit like living past 80.......if you can get to 64 you have a greater chance of making it to 80 than you have if you are in your 50's......I read that once somewhere, can't remember but apparently 64 is the biggie where lots of us slip off our perches! So if you can get through the first 3 to 5 years unscathed I think most folk are in it for the long run.....like yourself.....I still feel that those first 3 to 5 years are the real crunch time and unless you have something nice to return too you may as well stay put. Anyway....show me some more "tony vids" they are funny.....
  6. I agree with his comment about coming from poorer backgrounds.....my experience was very much that way.....I noted a lot of the long term stayers were from poorer back grounds or from areas of the UK that suffered with lack of jobs.....prospects......opportunities......or just complete sh#t holes.....many that came from affluent areas seemed to return......but that was just my experience.....I also noted how he calls the ozzies......"aussies"......which I was reliably informed some time ago is typically Australian.....maybe he has been in the country too long or maybe he is a bogus poster.....who knows.....who really cares.....
  7. again.....not my experience.....but I don't want to take anything away from you and your superior knowledge of everything......including the typical Englishman......
  8. I agree with some of the OP and disagree with some.....does that satisfy you?
  9. no....I find all the......"I'm not bothered but....." quite amusing
  10. you speak for yourself mate......that's not something I have ever experienced and I have lived and worked in several countries over the years.....maybe your experiences are down to your own demeanour and the way in which you come across.....
  11. but you just have......several times......
  12. Corbyn......when I hear his right hand man repeating the word "Solidarity"......I just think they are dated and equally as out of touch as some on the right.....some of the things I have heard them say.....taxing big business.....they claim they can raise up to 25 billion this way.....they cannot agree amongst themselves on many policies and it seems there are some within the party already plotting to get rid of him.....his heart is in the right place.....he wants to do the right thing but as was said so much better by Quinkela than I can match.....he is just not suited to the job and although some of his ideas may appear right.....they will just never work.
  13. I think your dad is not far off the mark......we have had a lot of economic migrants coming to our country in the past 10 years.....with all these refugees massing on Europes border and the threat from IS......there are many very normal people with very good values on both sides of the political divide that have had enough.....In 2 to 3 years time the UK will be out of Europe.
  14. You picked the wrong day to go to Manchester.....temps in London over 30 and blue sky.....gorgeous day! I would take all the big stores with a pinch of salt.....expensive tourist traps.....get on the tube and go to the Tower of London....some lovely sights down there....or Natural history museum and science museum, all free and use the side entrance to avoid queues. We go up for the odd show every now and then and £30 to £40 a ticket for a top London show is not that bad.....some of the cheap half price ticket shops have some good deals as well.....you should be able to see something for around £30 a seat. London is a fantastic city.....there is something for everyone and every budget.....enjoy.
  15. I never understand that argument re the SE is doing OK etc etc.....most people on here using that argument have either moved half way across the world to Aus or are planning to in an attempt to better their lives.....surly all things considered it would be better to move to the SE instead? Closer to home.....cheaper to move.....plenty of jobs.....it's all here and only a few hours drive away?

I completely agree with shak and you Unfortunately it often boils down to one of those annoying sayings that you hear so often....."you don't realise what you have until it's gone" Its like ground hog day on here sometimes.....when you read posts from individuals set on moving to Aus......not just sticking the knife in....but twisting as well as they head out of the departure gates at Heathrow to their new adventure in Aus......I am looking forward to some updates from the recent crop of new migrants
  17. I'm a landlord with a housing benefit tenant currently living in my property....she has been there since 2008.....when she moved in the rent was £850 pcm.....the rent now is still £850 pcm.....I have had to evict her because she is continually late paying the rent, upto 2 or 3 weeks each month.....she lives there on her own with her 3 children....she has a pretty good life regularly posting pics on facebook of nights out etc.....everything paid for her and obviously some cash left in her pocket.....I told her I wanted to increase the rent at the end of last year to the level it should be, about £1050 pcm, I submitted the forms etc but discovered it would take the council 16 weeks to process the new claim, during that time I would be without rent....so I gave up on that idea.....fast forward 9 months.....she stopped paying me the housing benefit she was receiving in March of this year after I started eviction proceedings.....effectively pocketing that money....£1700 of tax payers money....I complained to the council and they have started paying the housing benefit direct to me now until she is evicted.....but.....I now have little or no chance of getting that housing benefit she kept.....I have taken her to small claims court.....she did not turn up and a judgement was made in my favour.....however Im not going to get that money......what I have not told you is that after I requested an increase to the rent then decided against it.....my tenant submitted the paper work anyway.....the housing benefit dept increased the rent to £1050 pcm and started paying her that amount.....she did not tell the council that I changed my mind and that she had signed a fresh contract for £850 pcm.....effectively defrauding the council and pocketing the extra £200 pcm.....fortunately I discovered this by chance whilst discussing the claim with the council and she is now being made to repay the over payment......I know not all benefit claimants are like this but I do think this is your typical benefit claimant......she thinks she is owed something by everyone.....she expects so much and is happy to take take take if its there to be taken...... The benefits system needed to be changed....in this country we have far too many people happy and comfortable on benefits living their lives and doing everything that most normal working people do but at the cost of the tax payer......plenty smoke at £7 a packet and keep pets.....if you are living in poverty or struggling then it is in your interest to do something about it.....educate your self before you are an adult....re-educate yourself.....move to a different part of the country......its up to you and not the taxpayer/government to fund and subsidies your life so that its pleasant and enjoyable.....benefits are for people that are in trouble and need a hand.....not for those looking for a comfortable existence watching daytime TV and going out at weekends with their friends.....I fully support the benefits system.....I have used it in the past and so has my family....I grew up on a council estate and would probably have been considered living in poverty.....I had free school meals but I made choices as a young person....choices anyone can make.
  18. there are plenty of right wing papers.....liberal papers and left wing papers.....I would say there is probably quite an even balance...what I still don't understand and you have failed to address is this claim that because a given media group/paper is right wing they will naturally perceive the BBC to be left-ish......why?.....you say the same about left wing papers.....they will naturally perceive the BBC to be right-ish.....how do you come to that conclusion? I thought the BBC was just another news group reporting the news......
  19. Why? if as you say most media organisations are right wing.....why does that mean they would think the BBC is Left-ish.
  20. most media I read or listen to point to the BBC being leftish......personally I think they get it just about right most of the time.....always offer all sides the same opportunity to air their views.
  21. The BBC is traditionally considered bias towards the left and Labour....... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-32975253
  22. you must mean the "usual suspects".......I wouldn't worry about them.....they all have an "agenda".....funny that.
  23. Yes I had a similar experience back in 2005/2006.....would speak to friends and told "nothing has changed here" ......"the place is still a dump"......its funny how English people are only too eager to please and tell you what they think you want to hear.....its also funny how you interpret one persons opinion as gospel re the state of the economy and country as a whole lol.......Obviously on my return in 2007 I discovered all was actually OK.....pretty good in fact....and still is
  24. probably due to the knock on effect in the cut in legal aid.....its quite common for firms to move into pastures new when their old feeding grounds are empty. Knowing how much commercial law firms charge I must say you have just made my day.......thanks for that
  25. He is talking about the government cut backs in "legal aid".....the government have proposed big cuts in legal aid.....the governments own auditors have advised the government that it is not financially viable for these law firms to operate with the proposed cuts.....the government have suggested that the law firms join forces and create companies within companies in order to keep their costs down etc etc......my brother is also a partner in a firm of Solicitors in Kent and I have heard it all over the past couple of years....I would show you the smallest violin if it was possible on a chatroom.....what this all has to do with universities god only knows?
