  1. Thanks ceddy that's helpful. One of mine definitely won't lose weight, she'll eat whatever! Who did you use to take the dogs out, or did you sort it all out yourself? X
  2. Thanks bob. I know the costs but haven't told him yet.....keeping that surprise for now! Thank you
  3. I have put it on the pet air forum Evenezia so keep an eye out on the response x
  4. Hi Bob. I have put this on the other pet thread but it has been suggested that I put it on here go ask you. Hope u dont mind. Just wondering if anyone else on here has taken small dogs over from the UK to Oz? I am sure there are plenty of you and I guess I am looking for some reassurance. I have no second thoughts about taking my 2 small king charles cavaliers with us, until my hubby suggested last night that the long flight and stress might kill them???? They don't have heart problems and I know they will be medically checked up before we go, but now I am wondering whether the flight and stress will harm them? I can't imagine leaving them in the UK, even with loved ones, but if there is a chance I am going to harm them then I guess its something I need to consider??? They are both only 3 years old just to add x

  6. Thank you very much for your replies. Snaik I see you arrived in Brisbane in January - is everything as good out there as I am hoping, particularly for my two children that are 11 and 9?
  7. We are about to submit our Skills Assessment (for hubby) and we were going to do the process without a migration agent. However, after reading a number of posts about errors in applications and additional costs I am now wondering if it is best just to go with an agent??? Anyone been through the visa application and have thoughts on this?
  8. Have u guys all used an agent or found it easy enough to do it yourself? Thank you
  9. Thank you. I have just read someone else's post saying they want to move from Brisbane to Melbourne as Brisbane is just too boring!!!! She also said its really hard to make friends in that area. I know it sounds laid back in Brisbane (part of the attraction), but surely its not boring? Don't want to take the kids there and find they are bored with no friends. Although I guess this can depend on the type of person you are, as we are outgoing and maybe she isn't???? She's worried me now!
  10. Thank you very much for your advice x
  11. Thank you very much Snaik. That is very helpful, thank you so much. Once we know what is going on, I may be back in touch with you. Thanks again, I really appreciate it. x
  12. Can anyone recommend the family friendly areas near Brisbane. I have an 11 year old and 9 year old so I will need to be near to both a high school and primary school. Would really like to be in an area that's not too far from Brisbane CBD as my husband is hoping to work in that area. I have looked at the maps and housing websites time and time again, but I can't work out where would be best??? :arghh: Also have 2 small dogs so somewhere the dogs will be happy (although I am sure they will be happy anywhere). Any advice would be really appreciated.
  13. Thanks everyone. I do have children, I have an 11 year old and a 9 year old. Both are very excited about a move so they are not an issue as long as we can settle in an area with a good school (which I will obivously research). The main areas for my husbands work are Brisbane and Sydney and from the two, I get the impression that Brisbane would be more suited to us and that is why I have focussed on that area. x
  14. Thank you Jacaranda. I have suggested my hubby goes over for a good look round as I work in a school so its really expensive when I am not working. He can go anytime and then its cheaper, he can also see for himself. I have looked on so many websites about Brisbane and I am positive we would be happy there - but Google Earth is a good idea. Thank you xx
  15. Hi there. I am looking for advice please. Has anyone moved to Australia, particularly the Brisbane area, without going out there first to visit??? I am quite happy to go to Brisbane after researching LOADS but my husband is adamant that we go out there first to check out everything. He is much more of a worrier than me. Has anyone else just gone for it and then checked out the areas once you are there, or am I being really stupid? I think if we rent first then we can look into the exact area but is this realistic??? Any help appreciated. :arghh:
