1. He cant go for a parent visa as he has got my brother and sister living in the UK. If your running your own business your normally on call 24/7 plus the hours worked in the week, book keeping and so on. All in all the hours mount up which prob would be over 38 hours per week. When I first came out on a 457 sponsor. There was times where my employers work dryed up and was layed off for a few days but made it up over following weeks with call outs. Thats just the way it goes with a small business. As long as they can see your surporting your self with there required income they leave you alone. Ive not seen the changes with the 457 and I know all the other visa's have changed thats why its difficult to find the right visa for him.
 2. Think if your running you own business they nt gonna know what hours your working. Just goes down as 38 hours on the books as a salary
 3. I am a perminant resident on a 176 visa and my Father wants to move out here with us. We are thinking of setting up a electrical contactors and pest control business but trying to work out which visa he could move out on. He has ran a business him self for over 9 year and is also a manager at Dunlop in the UK. So he has plenty of experiance, qualifications and skills. He only wants to semi-retire, so only really wants to work about 20 hours per week. Which visa would be the best one to go for???
 4. Thanks Mate, its a great help. Was worried because of not knowing what to expect but he seems a nice guy. Just hope I can get through it ok. Stew
 5. Has any one used Queensland Electrical Training to complete there Vetassess training to get an electrical mechanical license?? I have been working through the training now for the past 8 months and have my assessment the end of the month and was wondering what to expect. Whats involved in the exam and the practical exam ??? as any one failed the assessment?? Any advice would be a great help Thanks Stewart __________________
 6. You can only apply for a RSMS and ENS only if you have a full electrical Licence. Ive have had to apply for a 457 visa 1st until I can get a full Licence.
 7. I know this is really cheeky but does any one have a PDF copy of the AS/NZ3000 2007 Australian wiring regulations they could email me please. I would be very greatful. stewartbeades@hotmail.com Thanks Stewart

Hi Taz

We had problems trying to get an ENS over issues over Electrical Licences as you need to have a full electrical licence to apply for a ENS. We was told that we would need to apply for a 457 visa until I gained a full electrical licence.

We have currently got a case worker for the 457 and been granted the sponsorship part so far and just waiting for the rest to be approved. We are hoping we should here some time next week. (fingers crossed)

I think if all goes well with the changes to the skill migration list on Monday we will wait for our 176 over there so we have the freedom to change jobs if I need to.

Ill keep you updated on how we get on.

Thanks for asking

Hi, hows things???

Just wondering how you are getting on with your ENS? I think I saw you posting that you now have secured your Employers Sponsorship? Thats great news for you! Do you know how long this will take you now? Whats the Company like, any good???

I hope it all works out well for you.

 10. I am also moving to Queensland but had to find a sponcor as I did not want to wait till 2012. I was applying for ENS visa but later found out after paying for the employer nomination you can only apply for this visa if you have a full licence. I am now applying for 457 long stay visa then waiting for my 176 to got through over there. I have done my VETASSESS back in april and found a training company in Brisbane where you can complete the gap training in 3 to 4 months (thanks to Steveo) so this is the route Im going to follow. The biggest problem is trying to find some one to sponsor you. Not easy !!!! Here is the link of the training company HomePage Hope this helps Stewart
 11. You must complete the Vetassess if you live in the following countries United Kingdom, India, Sri Lanka, South Africa and the Philippines for these nominated trades for the purpose of a visa. If you wanted to do the TRA route you can do this as a extra. Stupid, expensive and long winded rules !!!!!
 12. Cheers Steve, thanks for the info. Ill look into that, Im planning on moving over in October so give me plenty of time to sort things out. Im gonna try and get a placement before I leave the UK if not I think I may go down the peer route. Regards Stewart
 13. Well im gonna try and leave my options open and go where ever I can get work in Qld. Not sure wether to go down the peer route to improve my chances but just wanted to see what sort of feed back from people that have done the gap training route.
 14. Has anyone gone down the Gap training route with the log book and managed to get a placement?
