sa to qld?

We moved from Adelaide a year ago. Love love love it here on the Gold Coast
  2. Yes I could come its less than a hour, will read back thru what dates it was as I work a sat or a sunday which is a real bummer. Whats the plan? What are you ladies doing?? ))
  3. We are living in Pac Pines, been here 8 months but we feel we are missing out on the 'aussie' lifestyle so are now looking at Varsity, Robina and Mermaid for another rental. Its just too much of a trek from here to everywhere:(
  4. Ive just come across this thread, am wondering if you will do a girly get together on the gold coast? Im in Pac Pines and need to meet new people. Im no spring chicken but still young at heart
  5. If anyone is interested our house will be available in a few weeks time, dates are flexible.......4 bed large villa style house with pool in Carter Street, Pacific Pines rent is $560 a week, in a quiet cul de sac, is walking distance to shopping centre, macdonalds, zaraffas, noodle bar, primary and high school etc etc. If anyone is interested PM us for more details.
  6. Hi Michelle, Are you the same Michelle i spoke to in adelaide from Noarlunga? We moved from Morphett Vale to Gold Coast in October, have moved to Pacific Pines, we loved Robina and looked at a few houses there and in Mudgeeraba too but settled on Pac pines, we liked the idea of it being more like the uk, its like a little town of its own, with shopping centre and a good tavern opposite a huge park with a lake, great playgrounds for the kids, its all very pretty and clean, has 3 or 4 primarys, high school and nice houses that are good value. Our daughter Tegan (11) has settled in really quickly to her new school which I was worried as she had moved school twice in SA as we were living in Seaview Downs and then bought in MV. Arundel is about 5 to 10 mins drive from here. Harbourtown here is bigger than Adelaides lol just a bit of shopping info there. Theres a Westfield 5 mins from Pacific Pines or you have the huge Robina shopping centre 5 mins from Mudgeeraba. If you fancy meeting up when you arrive we would be happy to, fire away with an anymore questions you want answering. Lorraine:xmas10: ps i looked into schools in Mudgeeraba and theyre all really good primarys but there is no High School (only private), it would be Robina or Palm Beach I think
  7. We may be breaking our lease in Pacific Pines, Its a lovely 4 bed large home with a salt water inground pool, in a quiet cul de sac, the house is in the catchment for Pacific Pines Primary/High School, walking distance to shopping centre and tavern. Rent is $560 pw. Thought we would ask on here before we make it official to see if anyone is looking for a property like this, PM us if you would like any further details.

    Molendinar??

a nice house came up there, but we didnt get it anyway, think they wanted hubby already working which is impossble with being in adelaide still and even with a letter from prospective employer it was a no. Oh well its obviously wasnt meant to be. We now are going back to plan a and staying in a hotel for 2 weeks and will be viewing heaps in 2 weeks time lol
  10. Hi giggle, good to hear you are there, we move 18th oct from Adelaide yipppeee cant wait, packing up the house now!! We have just put an application in for a rental in Molendinar, its basically next to Ashmore and seems close to everything. Our first choices were Pacific Pines or Robina but this lovely house has come up and suburb is really central so hope we get it!! Maybe we can all meet up?? Lorraine:cool:

    Molendinar??

We are considering Molendinar for a rental, does anyone live there and know if its a nice area to live in? The house is at Crestwood Heights?
  12. Well we have sold the house, way too quick really!! One way flights booked to Gold Coast for 18th October,so its bye bye to Adelaide and Hello Queensland:cool:
  13. Just wondering if anyone has used 'You Pack' for shipping interstate??
  14. Our daughter was 16 when we began the visa process but when we finally lodged she was 18 and 19 when it was granted in Feb 2011. She was in full time education at 16 but then went to work as didnt want to come to Oz, she then split with her boyfriend and decided she wanted to come so we said you need to get to college (she was 18 now), she was not at college for the whole year and we thought this may cause a problem when our case officer picked up our case but thankfully it was granted no probs. She really didnt want to go to college as wanted to earn but ended u doing a course she really enjoyed and worked part time in 2 shops, to help her cope with all this and because I couldnt have moved without her she paid no housekeeping, we said keep your money and we helped her out financially so she stayed in full time ed. Hope this helps and good luck
  15. Hi Zephyr, In our personal opinion we have found the houses in Adelaide are not cheap at all, unless you want to live by a beach down south without much around or in a not so desirable suburb or up North then they are expensive. We have bought and even though there are 2 little shoppin centre closeby we have to do a longish taxi ride to go anywhere decent for a night out. We are moving to Queensland, to the Gold Coast, we feel it offers everything we havent found here. We find it very quite and here and yes there are festivals in the city, wineries etc but thats not enough for us, we dont like it too laid back lol
  16. Hi all, has anyone sold their house out here in Oz and not used an estate agent?? Theres a few sites on the net whereby it gets advertised on realestate.com.au, you get a for sale board etc but no hideous commission to pay. Seems a bit daunting so hoping someone on here has done it, maybe??
  17. Has anyone moved interstate and who did you use for furniture removals? Or did anyone use a alternative method?? We are planning to move from Adelaide to the Gold Coast.
  18. Hi girls, can i just ask whats it like living in Helensvale and Coomera? Are there plenty of shopping centres around? We are from Chelmsford in Essex originally and moving from Adelaide in a few months to the Gold Coast because its so quite here so we want to be in a busy suburb with things nearby and not a long drive, possibly walkable. Have just come back from a reccie and quite liked Robina, but drove through Helensvale but didnt have the chance to look properly. We have 5 kids from 2 to 20 so need schools, uni, Shops and Im guessing the only place for nightlife is Surfers? Do any of these suburbs have places to go out for a meal and drinks or is the closest place Broadbeach/Surfers for a proper night out?? Thanks in advance for any answers Lorraine
  19. Thanks for your reply Cal, seems like your are only buddie lol:err:
  20. Hi all, we are coming for a reccie albeit short, only 6 days over the easter period. We are originally from Essex and have been living in Adelaide 13 months. We are going to have a look at some suburbs we like the sound of on the Gold Coast and also a few around Brisbane. We are bringing 3 kids with us, 2,10 and 17, if anyone fancies meeting up in the evening for a drink/chat etc would be great to meet any like minded people:biggrin:

  24.

Only just found the visitors messages!! We sold ours in December, we werent sure at the time if it was the right thing to do but went ahead as we thought would get visa within a few months and here we are still!! Renting is a fortune and we were thinking about downsizing to a 3 bed if it was going be another 6 months but we optimistically hoping it wont and also hoping if SMP comes out Electrician will be on it and will get visa before Xmas so think we are gona stay put.

We are heading for Adelaide, it wasnt our first choice as realy fancied Brisbane especially for the kids but Electrician came off their State Sponsor list so agent said South Australia was our best bet, anywhere in Australia would be nice, especially when you feel like your never gona get there hey??!! What is Perth like, have you been??

Anyway lets hope 09 peeps start getting CO's in a few weeks time, I cant wait to see the first one.

Gona have a glass of rose now!!
