Hi Dan Just wondering how you are getting on with your move to the Gold Coast? We move Dec,still not got a definite plan! Has your wife found work? Hope all is good! Helen

We move at the end of the year when the kids finish this year at school. We have no problem with settling in oz just don't fancy having to do the whole move thing again.....but work opportunities good so we are! You will always miss people but as your network grows and you appreciate the lifestyle here it will get easier. Did you like Robina? We drove around there but wasn't sure, we aren't even sure about living around Varsity Lakes but the school appears good.......any advice on Varstity College welcome! How far from the beach are you at Mudgeeraba? My kids love the beach and we live less than 10mins now. How old are your children? After 5 years we know we don't want to move back to the UK. XX

Hi Dan, It is so confusing choosing areas! We have lived on the Sunshine Coast for 5 yrs but it is smaller and we had no hassle choosing! All the areas you are considering are on our list too but Currumbin is prob a bit far south for my husband to commute to Southport as the traffic can be a nightmare! We are taking a look next week at Varsity College. Do your friends have kids? If so, what school do they go to? We know people who live at Mermaid Beach, they love the location but their house has no garden! Small outside entertaining area. My eldest is nearly 13 so High school is important for us and it has the primary school too for my younger 2....Varsity is still prob top of our list! We would rent if we could within the catchment area until we found our feet and where we liked. I am also a midwife, interested in the new Gold Coast University Hospital. We love the Oz way of life and just want to settle on the Gold Coast as well as we have settled on the Sunshine Coast! Good luck! Helen

Thank you! We had also looked at Varsity College but was unsure of surrounding area.....would consider renting though. It was certainly one of the schools we had been researching. We will arrange to look around! Good luck with your move......exciting times ahead!

Family moving from Sunshine Coast to Gold Coast....reluctantly, but work opportunities mean us relocating! Already love oz!....3 children; swim, nippers, rugby, gymnastics. Hubby will be working Southport, but like the South end of GC. Any thoughts of Mermaid Beach, Mermaid Waters? Pizzens Park has heaps of sporting facilities. Local High School is Miami High School, heard good and not so good?? Other area is Currumbin but it may be long commute? We really have no idea about the GC, any advice much appreciated! School will be top of our priorities, been very impressed with the kids state school at present on the SC........5 yrs in oz!!....love it!!!!
