Yeah, take an umbrella.
We went recently, we used to go a couple of times a year when we lived in the UK. Beautiful Country. Ambleside is great.
We used to stay in a place called Cragmere Lodge I think. Lovely.
Edit, Cragwood.

They should be executed.

No wonder he's a prick with a mother like that.

Are you being served is my all time most hated show. Allo Allo comes a close second.
I'm no fan of Yank shows either, can't think of many that I like.
-
Yeah, my Mrs is addicted to 13th Street. Watched Messiah the other night. Great show but they're the worst cops in the World.
-
Dr Who and Sherlock are great. I wouldn't watch any of the others. Mrs Brown's Boys is embarrassing and just plain unfunny.
I will keep an eye out for The Musketeers though.

No anguish...Im enjoying the healthy debate:)
You're not Frank Bough are you?

Won't be slating them mate as I don't expect them to do anything. Oh yeah, quarter final defeat on pens.

Too true! hardly destitute as a professional such as a nurse/police officer or firey though. May not find job of choice but will surely find job in dire straits. Something to pay the mortgage should the worst happen.
Why are you bothering? Save yourself the anguish. I've had the 3 of them on ignore for the past 6 months and my time on this site has improved immeasurably.

Lets be honest ,none of our lot are going to win it ......I heard a great interview with ex spurs ( now real Madrid ) player luca modric ,on why England don't do very well at major tournaments .
His polite response was that England have the players, but don't care enough about playing for England .....
I think he's being kind, for the sake of his English mates. England doesn't really have the players, 1 or 2 aside over the past decade. That's why you buy English for 30M and put them on 200 grand a week yet can still buy some no mark Johnny Foreigner for peanuts who's probably just as good.

If you’re doing an early start you’ll breeze it. My Mrs leaves the house at 6.00 and is in her office in East Perth most days before 6.45; and we live in the sticks. Coming home (Northbound) is much better now as the freeway has been widened just outside the city and again up to Hodges Drive. I work in Osborne Park (Hutton St), I don’t travel to work on the Freeway but I do to travel home. If I leave at 3.00 I am home at half past.
The traffic is very busy in rush hour but my M62 journey was worse, it depends what you're used to. There are road works planned for Joondalup Southbound which will cause headaches for a while, they are replicating what they have done on the other side.
Worse than the traffic is the pedestrian speed limit. The main reason it takes so long is everyone is effectively going 60 mph. Mind you, once you see the average driver over here, you’ll be glad of that.

Run it through the night mate cheaper leccy, if you go in in the day just flick the maual on for a bit:wink:
Did a bit of research on this. You need a smart meter to juggle usage across tariffs. And having a smart meter effectively gives your Leccy provider control over your appliances!!!!

Rain's crap. It rained loads last winter so I'll wait for that again.

I like the look of the chips. But I'd take Aussie fish any day of the week.
-
Sounds great. Enjoy,.
-
I love fish and chips. You generally get what you pay for. If it's 9 quid and worth it, I'd pay it.
-
It's £7 here
Yeah I asked the wife and she said we used to pay 6 or 7 quid.
-
No, its because its shite.
-
I notice in the comments there are people stating they're paying 8 and 9 pound for F&C. Dear that.
-
Must be good sauce that.

Its funny, whenever I read about the UK weather on here, its great for 7 months a year or mild or lovely or whatever. Yet whenever I ring my Dad or brother or mates at the weekend, they tell me its been shite for months on end. Can't figure that one.
The UK has loads of great things going for it but the weather isn't one of them. That is, unless it has undergone some massive climatic shift in the last 6 years or so. Which it hasn't.

If you have kids, the pool costs are well worth it.

Run it through the night mate cheaper leccy
You have to have a certain type of meter mate, otherwise the tariffs are the same.

My wife and I are looking to move to Oz. I have been offered a job with a 85k to 90k basic as an entry point with a view of taking on my current UK role which is 150k although nothing in writing. When we think about the time we can spend as a family and the lifestyle we would have it's a no brainer. Then we think about who we are leaving behind and the devastation it will cause and it is ripping a hole in both our hearts.. Has anyone else gone through this? Any advice or hindsight experience would be very much appreciated?
Thanks
There is no definitive answer that can swing this for you mate.
For me, I do have a better life now. But, yeah, I do miss my family and friends, every day, after nearly 6 years here. That's never going to go away.
We moved here because most of wife's family were here. But mine are in the UK. So, we have a family scene here but not my family. But, for me and her as a couple, living here is well better.
Who knows, you might like it, you might hate it. It's a trade off you have to take a chance on if you want to go for it.
Good luck.

Good article.
People who do stuff in Perth regularly know all this.
People who sit in, moaning into their keyboards and watching repeats of Taggart, don't.
