partnership
I have gone through the skills list but still now sure if I would qualify. I see human resources and coaching both seem to be on one of the lists. I have a degree in industrial relations and personnel management but have worked mostly in the soft hr skills such as mediation, investigation, coaching and delivery of training programmes in conflict management, communications, team, work customer care. I am just about to compete an advanced diploma in Life and Executive coaching. Anyone know whether these skills match the list?
Guest
Job titles don't matter it is what you actually so from the very brief discription you have given I would say possibly, I think this is a case where a migration agent could be invaluable. Guest
Have been on to global migrate and have to do up CV for them to look at. I am wary about paying someone. No idea if Global Migrate are reputable - do check they are Mara registered. There are a number of agents on here who come highly recommended - I am sure a couple may even respond to your post, they aren't allowed to tout for business so look out for the details in the footers. There are many who will do an initial assessment free and are not going to take your money if you are no chance - most are exceptionally proud of their success rate in getting visas granted. I am not saying it can't be done on your own but if there isn't an absolute clear cut correlation between your qualifications, experience and the skills (e.g your a dentist or an electrician) then a good agent can really help. For example my OH studied Electrical and Electronic Engineering and worked as an Infrastructure Manager, the job he gained a positive skills assessment for was Network Security Specialist. Without our agent linking him with a consultant to assist with the RPL he was required to do and without the agents suggestions on how the references provided by employers needed to be written I don't think we would have got in. The other thing was the agent came up with a strategy we wouldn't have possibly thought about which meant i didn't have to do a skills assessment and my OH didn't have to do IELTS. Most will offer payment schemes too so you don't have to pay it all up front.
partnership
Thanks Lady Rainicorn that is useful to know. Can you recommend the agent you used or is that aloud. Will look up the list to see if they are registered.
Guest
Yes, we used Overseas Emigration and happy to recommend. For us someone we could meet face to face was important so we picked an agent in Scotland. It can depend on the details of your case who is best - we needed someone with access to specialist ACS skills assessment help but in your case I would think any agent could help equally well. Go Matilda are often recommended on here and @Alan Collett gives his advice generously on here.
partnership
Thanks. Did up my Cv and agent thinks I have a chance but I worry that if I don't apply by the time I am 50 then I won't be able to. Have looked at various sites about the sponsored 457 visa but very unclear if you need to be under 50 or not.

Have looked at various sites about the sponsored 457 visa but very unclear if you need to be under 50 or not. I'm not sure on age restrictions on the 457, I imagine not, but is that all you're after a chance to work in Australia for up to 4 years? Fine if it is but if you then like it and want to stay, if you have turned 50 you will have next to no chance. If you are eligible for a independent skilled migration visa you are so much better taking that option, even if you do only want to stay a few years. partnership
It's a hard call. My son is over there and if he stays permanently I would want to as well. I would like to give it a try anyway so I don't regret it later on.
Chortlepuss
Don't hang about! Got 457 at 43, sponsored for PR by employer at 46 who put in argument for skills shortage - very much needed specialist advice to push that through! VERYSTORMY
There are a number of issues here. First, I assume you are over 45. This means no points for age and for most it rules out a pr visa. A 457 is an option at any age - there is no age restriction. However, finding an employer in your role may be very difficult. Once over 50, then even with employer support it is very hard to gain pr as special restrictions apply including a minimum salary which is about $130k. If you are using a good agent then they should be advising you of these hurdles.
