Are there many IT/computing jobs in Melbourne at the moment?

Hi all, i am moving to Melbourne from Ireland on 22nd September. I have a degree in IT and Computing and was wondering is there much IT related work in Melbourne? I have signed up to SEEK recruitment agency and sent my CV around etc. I have a working holiday visa which means I am only allowed 6 months in any one job. Will the 6 month limit put potential employees off?

I did a simple search on Seek and came up with over 3,600 jobs, though I don't know how many are specific your qualifcations and experience.

I don't think you would have any hope of getting professional IT work on a working holiday visa.

I believe the job market is pretty tight at the moment, do you have a strong cv in terms of work experience? Yes the visa is definitely going to put many employers off in such a market. you might need to be prepared to take the more casual work that the visa is intended for.
