Guest
Hi everyone So I've just completed the Great Ocean Road in Australia and am now looking for my next big thing to do, I've already managed to get out all Tourist spots in Sydney and have booked Cairns up for next week to do bungee jumping, skydiving, white water rafting and snorkling, but I want to get some things booked up for the future and get some things to look forward to.. I'm here for 2 years so time isn't an issue yet as I've only been here for 3 weeks so far I've actually also been keeping up a vlog of my travels on youtube, mainly started it for my sister who is 13 back home to keep up to date with what I'm doing, but it's been fun to document down the future memories So.. any suggestions? MARYROSE02
Why not do some 'anti-tourist' (sic) activities, which might seem boring at first, but as not many people do them, you can make them unique? Get a bus/train/tram out to the 'burbs, where no tourist would think of going, pick a place at random, and walk around, check out pubs/cafes/clubs/churches, whatever. When I had time on my hands I used to do that, go down to the station or bus stop and take the first one that comes along. I don't really know Melbourne, but how about 'Narre Warren' (I've got a feeling that former AFL 'bad boy' Anthony Fevola comes from there?) There's nothing wrong with doing the tourist places, of course. I always drive over the Harbour Bridge rather than through the Harbour Tunnel. (I did the Bridge, Opera House and Bondi Beach on my first day in Sydney.) The geographical centre of Sydney is supposed to be Parramatta, so 'go west young man' and explore 'Struggle Street!' I looked a couple of your Vlogs - first time I've ever seen one! You must have a waterproof camera if you can take it surfing? It might be worth preparing a little 'script' before you start filming? I don't know. (I've got a young mate who has just started a film course in Sydney so I must ask him about Vlogs.)
movingback
Go see the outback. Work on a cattle station. Watch the sunset in the middle of the desert. Explore the 'real' Australia.

jumpingjellybean
You want adventure? You want to challenge yourself? You want to test yourself against the elements? You want to scare yourself s******* on the gunshot creek crossing? You want to experience some real Australia? You want to camp under a billion stars? You want to skinny dip at Fruit Bat Falls? You want to see crocodiles in their natural habitat? You want to see stunning scenery? You want to camp in Jardine River National Park? You want to have memories that will last a lifetime? Then I suggest taking a four-wheel drive trip up the OLD road (The Old Telegraph Track) from Cape Tribulation to the tip of Cape York. You really must do the old road; as the new road is too sanitized. You should really do it in a group of experienced 4WD, as a bit risky on your own. We had to be winched out of several crossings and whilst you can winch yourself to a tree – much easier with another vehicle http://www.cooktownandcapeyork.com/do/self-drive/cape-york-itinerary http://blog.mud-maps.com/blog/capeyork4wdguide http://www.tourismcapeyork.com/explore/cape-york/the-old-telegraph-track/ http://www.ournakedaustralia.com.au/4wding-the-old-telegraph-track-cape-york-qld/ Explore the 'real' Australia

Guest The Pom Queen
I would head to Darwin, do the Adelaide River Cruise to see the jumping crocs http://www.adelaiderivercruises.com.au I love the outback so I would spend most of my time inland, you could do fossicking (hunt for sapphire, gold etc) Undara Lava Tubes http://undara.com.au, you could head to Cober Pedy looking for Opals and sleep in a cave http://www.desertcave.com.au , I loved Kununurra, I could live there and also Glen Innes. You could go skiing in July in Victoria. There is so much to do I could be here all day listing everything.
