Just thinkging maybe the cost and difficulty in renting, would we be more advisable to buy a house... I know we have to get there and look around but just thinking...?? SpongeRobert Posted April 18, 2012 Share Posted April 18, 2012 ok just looked it up and the answer is yes you can. They will give you a mortgage of 80% on a 163 visa. However it may be increased to 90% if you have good financial stability. although i do know that on a temp 457 visa the repayment or interest charges are higher that that for a perm resident. Guest pandp Posted April 18, 2012 Share Posted April 18, 2012 Unfortunately, the banks won't give you a mortgage for longer than your visa is valid for. Obviously you can buy a house, you will just need a lot of back up cash! We also are here on 163 and when we asked this question, that was their answer. Hope this helps.
