Hanbo24
Hi - does anyone know (or point me in the right direction) of finding out about hospital treatment for severe shortsightedness in children?? My daughter sees a optomotrist every 3 months and has to wear a patch daily, this should be over soon as shes had this treatment for nearly 2 years but wondered where we stood when we move to Oz?? We are aware we will prob have to pay for treatment. Thanks for any answers. H x
calNgary
If you got to see a GP when you arrive they can refer you to a relevant specialist. On a PR visa if you ask to use the public system there isnt normally anything to pay other than scripts of course, i found if you dont ask they will send you private and you have to pay for the specialist appointment etc.. It took longer to get an initial appointment in the public system but the care ive recieved has been excellent ever since. Cal x
Hanbo24
Thanks Cal. I forgot to put that we'll be on a 457, not sure if that changes things? X
calNgary
You cant have full Medicare cover on a 457 but you still get some (so still apply and get a card). Im not sure how it will affect specialist appointments payment wise etc though sorry. Cal x
