John and Alexa
Hi All I was just wondering if anyone had an idea of the tax implications with regards to revenue earned from the licensing of intellectual properties. If a deal is done with a company in the Uk do I end up paying tax in both the Uk and Oz or does some kind of rebate exist once I move over to Australia Thank you in advance John
Ken
There is a "double taxation agreement" agreement between the UK and Australia which does the opposite of what it says on tin - it prevents you from being taxed double. You can offset whatever tax you pay in the UK against whatever tax you have to pay in Australia (and vice versa if necessary). At the end of the day you end up paying the higher of the two rates.
