Worlo24
Hi, Myself and girlfriend are both fully qualified teachers back in the uk and we are hopefully moving to Melbourne for a year next academic year to teach in australian primary schools. We are going to begin just doing the CRT in local primaries. I was just wondering whether anyone on the forum had more information about this? Have experience in teaching in primary schools in oz? Or could help us in anyway to make planning for work in oz easier? Many thanks in advance
Sammy1
First of all you need to make sure that your you have four years of university study, such as a four year Bachelor of Education or a three year degree followed by a post graduate teaching qualification at university. It is mandatory in Australia to have four full years of university study. Once you decide where you are going, you will then need to register with the relevant teaching body. For example, in Western Australia that is WACOT ( West Australian College of Teaching ). Once they have accepted you qualifications they will then put you on the state register of teachers. Only then can you you teach or relief teach. There are a lot of teachers chasing jobs right now, but if you are maths or science teachers then you have a higher chance of success.
