I have plans to move to OZ soon and I have a couple thousand US dollars in old 100 dollars bills(Image here) and some 20 dollar bills. Will they be acceptable in Australia? Guest Guest31881 Posted January 19, 2012 Share Posted January 19, 2012 it will depend on if they are still legal in the USA, If they are that old that they are no longer valid in USA then you would have to return them to an American bank to get them exchanged for legal notes. can you ask a bank near you if they can check for you. Freckleface Posted January 19, 2012 Share Posted January 19, 2012 Not sure about Money Exchange places being able to handle the larger denominations but any of the banks in Australia that deal in foreign currency will be able to make the exchange for you without any problems. The four major banks all handle lots of foreign currency. They are the NAB, CBA, ANZ or Westpac. Wouldn't hurt to ask at one of the exchange places though as sometimes their rates are better.
