Guest prudence33
I am confused as to when I could calculate my residence begins. This is my story : Came to Australia on August 01,2009 as a Tourist. Went back to England on 28th September to apply for my Student Visa. Returned to Oz on 3 December 2009. Been here since then, and received my residency on 5 September 2011. Do I calculate from the day I came in as a tourist or a student? The citizenship calculator says that the day you have a legitimate visa. Kindly let me know if I can apply for my citizenship in August or December of 2013. Thanks. :-)
paulhug
We got PR in december last year, we had already been here 3 1/2 yrs. We have been told we can apply for citizenship after another 12 months? Dont know if this helps much! Paul
boganbear
December 2013. You were not a resident until you came in Dec 2009. before that you were a tourist so it doesn't count. essentially it is 4 years residency with the last year being PR.
