Guest richiee
Im moving to Australia in the next 2 months from Ireland. I have Quinn health (used to be bupa) here. They will only cover me for 6 months while abroad though. I have to have insurance as part of my contract. I know very little about it or what I actually need. Im single so its just for myself I need it. Any advice? which is the best company to go with and what type of cover do I need. Ive heard about this medicare over there. What is that? Thanks Richie
lebourvellec
On the 457 visa, you need to have medical cover to comply with the 8501 condition on your visa. Visitors from the Uk are entitled to reciprocal health care, although they need to have health insurance before they go for their visas, as you can only register for medicare when you are in Australia. http://www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/public/migrants/visitors/uk.jsp But if you are from Ireland I dont think you will be entilted to reciprcal health care. IMAN is a popular choice for 457 via holders.http://www.austhealth.com/ Not sure if your Private Health care that you have in Ireland will able to satisfy the 8501 condition for your visa. Natnats
Hi, Bupa Australia do a policy specifically designed for 457 holders with varying levels of cover available. It's called Overseas Visitor Cover. Nats
