Joanna82
Hello Hello! I have a Graduate Degree in Socialwork and 3.5 yrs experience, mainly working in child protection. I should qualify for AASW but havent applied yet. All together I think I would be able to go the 175/176 route but would rather skip the wait times and expenses. I have studied for a year in Australia as well as lived and worked during 2 WHV. I have noticed the Department of Child Protection in WA is actively recruiting Social Workers from abroad, are there any other places that offer sponsorship visas? I visiting Australia in February to see friends (on a tourist visa), what do yo think the chances are of securing a sponsored position within a month or so? I am quite open when it comes to location. Thanks for any replies and help, Happy new year to everyone!
Guest lexylou
Hi Joanne, I would give the HR Dept of the DCP a call and maybe arrange to visit them if u r visiting WA in February. If not have a chat with them anyway and discuss timescales with them. They always encourage u to call regarding the vacant posts that they advertise. Good luck. Bienkie
I have seen that SW is on the list for sponsorship by Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania.
ali
Don't forget though that you may still have the expense of a PR visa further down the track
