Clarkernucci
Hi. We live in Geelong Victoria (1 hour from Melbourne) and i earn $50,000 as a Glasscutter and my wife earns about $32,000 as a care worker (about 30 hours a week) Hi pez, If you don't mind me asking what does your wife do as a care worker? My wife and I are coming over in a couple of months and I will be the only one working to start with. My wife has been a career (nursing homes) for years but were wondering if it would pay better in OZ, as the pay in the uk is crap.. But we haven't been able to get an idea on what she could earn, we have emailed a few companies but non have replied. Thanks.
flag of convenience
A care worker would be similar to career in UK. Support Worker is another term in use here again similar but suggests the person is able to do more for themselves. As in UK here in Australia the pay is at the lower end. Seems to be in the region of $19 to about $23 which may sound ok in UK terms at least for the moment but is in fact very low.Higher costs here probably balance it out to very similar to UK or even slightly less.
