Used car warranty

Assuming you're talking about aftermarket warranties, then you're effectively buying insurance against mechanical breakdown. I personally don't think they're worth the paper they're written on, as there are so many clauses and limits that you almost certainly won't get your money back. You're better off using that money to buy yourself a better example of the car you're looking at ;)

I know what you mean about offsetting cost of warranty against keeping it for the rainy day. In my case, my car could potentially have very expensive issues to fix, and I had a warranty in UK which covered my ass on a few occasions, worth the price and peace of mind. In fact, it was considered dumb not to have the warranty. So I'm looking to find any reputable companies here and investigating cost.
