Here is the official sites of MIA and MARA registered agents http://mia.org.au/search-agent also check https://www.mara.gov.au/

Just search the name here for a MARA registered agent and soon u will know whether he is real or fake.If he is on the list, his MIA no and MARA number will appear .

I just found this useful hence i posted it over here

Beware of fake agents who can cheat you in the name of immigration.

Not all registered migration agents are members of the MIA. There is another professional (in my opinion, superior) body for migration agents. The MIA used to be the regulator, but the minister got rid of them (for perceived conflict of interests, so he claimed) and introduced the OMARA (the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority)

Here is my OMARA listing:

Agents must apply for registration every year so that they can continue to practice. This agent's most recent registration started on 20 Jan 2011

Here is my opinion of the OMARA, which I include on all my costs agreements:

WARNING

The OMARA is an essentially useless office that is part of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship and I have told them so repeatedly. With the stroke of a pen the minister can terminate them all as easily as s/he can terminate a perfectly valid visa application. The OMARA can do nothing about unregistered agents overseas or parliamentarians or DIAC officers who give, often incorrect, migration advice in Australia, or education agents who give catastrophically incorrect migration advice under the table. About all the OMARA can do, having received a complaint, is haul a registered migration agent over the coals - after the event. They cannot order repayment of money lost. They can do nothing when the minister (The Terminator) changes the rules in the middle of the game or one of his delegates or ‘designated authorities’ bungles your case. By the way, the ‘average fee’ misinformation published by the OMARA is just that.
