Guest scoop
Hi Guys Just been catching up with the news in Aus. http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2006/05/14/1147545196739.html Came across this story and felt renewed fervour to migrate. How many people in this country would have tackled a perpetrator of an assault. We would probably have been arrested for dangerous driving! They have so much more community spirit. Guest Beki
That is a good example of the difference in attitude between the UK and Oz. Here, even people in authority, such as the police are constantly in danger let alone Jo Public. There are too many criminals in the UK at large for anyone to have the courage to tackle an incident like that without backup. It is a sad fact that this Country is over populated and the authorities/government can't keep up with any kind of control of the whole situation. Guest Jocky
Australians have the advantage of not having to worry about the European Court of Human rights. i.e. - you don't have to worry about infringing the human rights of the assailant. - if the perpetrator is of an ethnic minority, then you don't risk being convicted of a racially motivated assault. Guest stephanielouise981
It's shocking... people here are too scared to step for two reasons - 1) because chances are the person would have a weapon and 2) because you could end up in trouble yourself. It would be nice to know that if you were being beaten up in broad daylight that someone would back you up!!! It's just not going to happen over here - people never know what they're facing. skippy
There are shootings in Sydney every week, so don't be fooled, the trouble comes from the gangs of some minority youth migrant groups that have come here as refugees etc, then go stupid like they did in their own countries. We are racist if we say they are Mediteranean, Asian or Islander appearance so I won't say it, I can't believe that governments bend over backwards to accomodate some of the cultures that come here because certain things offend them, can't stand the heat = get out of the kitchen, It's not only in England.
