MazPaul
My wife is looking for employment at either hospitals or doctors around Berwick/Cranbourne but doesnt seem to be able to find anything. Does anyone work in either hospitals or doctors in this area that could give some advice on where to look for vacancies. She has registered on the southern health, melbourne health and son of god for jobs.We also look on seek regularly. Are there any employment agencies that specialise in this field. All help welcome.Thanks. Petals
I think that there are courses you can do to help get into this field, with all the medicare nos etc they like people who are experienced. If its short hours or different hours think its a bit word of mouth too. In the burbs jobs are bit like who you know. Make sure you look in the leader newspaper each week, if you do not have it delivered get it on line, you just register and they email it to you. A lot of local jobs in it also short courses etc. Good luck
MazPaul
She doesnt need any courses really she has done this work for the last 20 years its just finding where the jobs are advertised and maybe talking to some people who already work in our area in her field. I realise she has done it for yonks but has she done it here in Aus? that is the question. I remember when I moved to Melbourne and was looking for a job many many moons ago, it was not about my experience it was all about someone prepared to give me a go because I had no Victorian experience. I do not know whether courses are done in UK but courses are done for everything we set our hands to here. Bits of paper are "paramount". Unfortunately when we migrate we are new, unknown quantity, and if an employer can find someone who is local knows the ropes etc they feel more comfortable. Word of mouth is big as I said I did not work in this field but when I moved from the CBD to the burbs to work with my children, word of mouth was how I was employed. tearose
I work for Southern Health and they have there own website .....I know you mentioned that this has already been looed at, but what with Casey and Dandenong you should be able to come across something sooner rather than later. Contact HR at Clayton (head office) and ask to be put on the books also, this would be a good way to get into southern health. Also the agency Sue Weeks which is based in Frankston cover 85% of all SH temp workers. Email me if you want any more info..
