July Changes - When will we know for certain?

Today has been the day from hell. We got a successful result from the TRA but not for what we applied for, even after getting the AQF III, so our plans for SS have disappeared as there is nowhere we can go now. We used an agent for the TRA and they are now looking into it all to see whether we can appeal as he says they've either changed the rules and not told anyone or an assessor has assessed it wrong  so we are waiting to hear back from them but even if we appeal though and are successful how long will that take? We were hoping to get our WA SS in asap so we could apply before July as with the proposed changes we will not have enough points so looks like we are now well and truly scuppered unless by some miracle the changes don't happen.

Anyway, if they're going to happen does anyone know when we will know exactly what they will be? I keep reading that they are only proposed somewhere and there is no legislation for the yet. Will it be before the 1st July or are they likely to just confirm it all on the day?

Nobody, unfortunately, can really answer your question as to when/if the new regulations for the proposed new points test will be issued. It makes it very difficult to give advice to people. Not sure what skill TRA assessed you as having-is it not on the WA SMP?

Your agent should be calling TRA and having a nice chat to an assessor and asking for it to be reviewed as an expedited matter. You can also ask WA to process your state sponsorship application as a matter of urgency. Don't give up just yet.

We applied as a chef but it came back as cook so not available on WA SMP  TRA assessor said that we need 3 years experience after the AQF to be classed as a chef? First we'd heard of that, and our agent didn't know either. So surely someone somewhere has been misinformed. What's the point of them doing an AQF for chefs if no one is going to get a positive TRA as a chef unless they wait 3 years?

:arghh:
