ducktape
Hi all - I understand when you arrive in Australia you have a certain grace period as a new migrant (three months or so I believe) for things like setting up a bank account or getting driving license, etc. I m thinking I may have to delay my real (by real I mean sending my belongings over and living there) arrival to Australia because of some potential work opportunities here in the UK over the next 18 months or so. So my question is do these things have to be done upon the first validation of your visa or when you move there for real? Sorry this seems like such a silly question. Guest Guest31881
Providing you validate your visa within the required time limit, you do not need to do anything else until you emigrate. Once you have moved here, then you can get tax file number, medicare, driving license. No need to do it during validation trip.
