Guest journeydownunder
Hi All, I am just submitting my VETASSESS for "Advertising Specialist" which is a limited occupation on the ACT SMP. I am a general worrier at the best of times and don't like things being out of my control (yes I am a self confessed control freak!!!) so this whole process is driving me bonkers!!! (It is me and my OH but he is leaving it all to me!!! - Joy!! So if I say "I" a lot it's because it's me doing all the worrying and running about!!!) Like most of you trying to get visas I am (we are!) totally happy with the fact that it is a waiting game, it has always been our long term dream to emigrate to Oz so if it takes 2 years or 4 years (hopefully not!!) I can live with it provided I know it will happen EVENTUALLY!!! My current worry is that in the time it is going to take to get the positive VETASSESS (assuming of course I do) that the ACT quota or the quota for my occupation will have filled up and then I have to desperately hope that my occupation is on another State List (We are pretty happy to live in any state, except NT as I think it will be tooooo hot, for a couple of years as like I said its a long term thing not a quick win we're after and we're both very laid back people - believe it or not!!! so I think we can be happy anywhere.) Breathe out....... Are you still with me??!!!.... Is there anyway of finding out how "full" the quota is for each state and/or occupation? I have no concept of how many people are applying so don't know if it will be filled up in a month or whether it takes several months before they fill their quota!?? Am I making any sense or have I really lost the plot?!!! Also... when the new points system comes out I should have more than enough points to qualify (as I have BA degree) but I assume I will still need an occupation on the new SOL schedule otherwise it will still be State sponsorship - am I right? Anybody that knows anything - please help!!! Thanks Emma (& Alan!)
