Guest BullcreekBob
Hello all, Can you buy a house on a SIR 495 visa??? Thanks. GMJ Ps. About to embark on "the process" G'day Yes you can buy a house here but there are a few rules. You must apply for and receive permission from the Foreign Investment Review Board as part of the conditions on any offer you make to buy a property. If you buy an "existing" house, you have to then live in it as your principal place of residence, i.e. you can't buy an existing house and rent it out to someone else. You must live in it yourself. If you want to borrow money to buy the house, you will need a deposit of at least 20% plus all the fees paid for. You will not be entitled to either the First Home Owners Grant nor any discounted rate of stamp duty that would otherwise apply to first home buyers (in states other than Qld)
