Small town/village Gold Coast?

I'm not sure if such a thing exists around the Gold Coast (I am showing my ignorance here, sorry!) but I was wondering if anyone could recommend any areas within 30 minutes of Coomera that would have a similar community feel to a village in the uk?

I have never been to Australia so I don't really know what the towns and cities are like. We have three kids ranging between 4 and 13 years. I'd like somewhere that would be good for teenagers but I do not want to live in a large town or city. It's important to me that they settle in well and are able to meet and socialise with people there own age.

I think that I'm just freaking out at the moment about making the right decision on where we should live. We do have to decide roughly where before we come out because we are coming out on a 457 visa so need to sort the job before we arrive.

I do like the look of the Gold Coast but I am a country girl at heart, the only time I've ever lived in a city it was only for 6 months and I hated it. I am rambling now!!

Any help gratefully received! And please don't be mean to me cause I'm very sensitive at the moment!! (Even though I know that you are only joking, mostly!!)

thanks

The first few places that spring to mind where you would get acountry village feel within 30 mins of Coomera are Tamborine, Logan Village or Canungra. All are like little country villages ,each has a small shopping ctr and cafe etc but are inland from Coomera.

All have childcare ctrs and schools although Mt tamborine or into Nerang would be the closest for high schools.

Hope this helps a little
