Urgent Help needed!!!!!

I have to return to the UK suddenly because my husband lost his job and though I am British, he is Indian and we have never lived in the UK together before. Being that once they cancel our work visas we will only have 28 days to leave the country, we need to get our heads around UK visa application for him and therefore want to consult a Migration Agent in Adelaide that specialises in UK migration rather than the usual type which is Australian Migration only... the yellowpages has no ads for anything other than Agents for Australian Migration... can anyone help or push me in the right direction?

We want to stay in AUS, but it took us 3 years to get here... I have so much to deal with and it's all chicken and egg... do we try and look for a job and have no time to wind down or to put enough attention on the visa application for UK or do I move out of my expensive rental house to conserve funds but where do I go without signing a lease and that will save me money and give me phone and net access? Do I liquidate everything now and risk losing hand over fist both the money spent and time put into furnishings and getting set up here (we've only been in 14 months!), or do I risk leave the furniture til the last minute, knowing I may leave it too late and get no return on it, or may have no time left to even sell it off cheap?

Anyway.. no doubt a picture will emerge bit by bitm but if anyone has suggestions of UK migration agent it would be so much appreciated...

thanks for your kind attention,

Rachel

Hi Rachel,

I don't know if this is useful at all, but my partner is a British citizen and we are thinking of moving back to the UK. As I am an Australian, with no ancestral right to live in the UK, I have 2 choices.........

1. HSMP - which to all the people complaining about how hard it is to get to Oz, you should acquaint yourselves with the changes the UK has made - no masters degree....forget it, or

2. Apply for a visa as her unmarried partner

Whilst I would qualify under 1, we have chosen to go option 2. It's a matter of filling in a form from the UK embassy/high commission and then getting together evidence of your relationship/marriage.

Joint bank statements, marriage certificates, rental or mortgage records.....things to prove it's a legitimate marriage etc, and guidance can be found on the website. You also need to have your husband present to a consular office to have biometric data (finger prints and photo) taken. I am living in Perth so could do that here....I am not sure about Adelaide??

We found it easy enough and have not gone through an agent. We figure that the guidance provided free of charge by the UK government is substantial.

Cheers

Obviously you are both on a 457. Dont panic yet

Get in touch with a migration agent and ask their advice. If you want to try to stay in Australia, an agent is you best place to start.

I've not been in the same situation luckily, but I believe that you can apply for a holiday visa status, and that gives you time to get your affairs in order.

The Australian government isn't going to put you on a plane withing 28 days if you havent got your affairs in order. You will need to notify them of the change in situation, but as I said, an agent will offer the best advice.

Good luck , and hope all goes well.

we were in the same situation but made the decision to come home, however, if you ring immigration they will give you an email address and you can send them details of your situation with regards to the 457 and may allow you to have an extension without having an employer. When I spoke to them they said not to panic and as soon as we knew the job was over to email them straight away and this should initially buy us a further 28 days at least which could give us time to find someone who is willing to sponsor you.

They were really helpful so I suggest calling them straight away.

We didn't wait for the inevitable redundancy as once we'd accepted that we had to come home we were more than willing to do it. Hope everything works out for you know exactly what you are going through its a horrible situation but they were really helpful and may point you in the right direction and save you having to leave the country when you don't really want to. Or at least buy you time to sort things out in the UK.
