angie&jay Posted September 21, 2009 Share Posted September 21, 2009 Hi, can anyone explain some of the ins and outs of a carers visa? Basically, Jays ( my OH) Grandad (who is near Newcastle, NSW) is living alone (wife now living in aged care facility) in his late 70's and finding life increasingly difficult to cope, i.e, with shopping, household, is isolated, mobility, etc and he has no blood relatives living in OZ (one of the 10 pound poms and then remarried over there so all family not blood related and unfortunately cannot offer much help in terms of care). How realistic would it be to look into Jay going out on a carers visa and anyone know about time scales for this ?? Grandad has always been pretty self sufficient and capable up until the last year I'd say but its very difficult to judge the extremity of the issues he's facing without actually seeing how he is, how he's coping, etc but have recently had a couple of teary phonecalls :sad:....
