Guest lee n sar
Hi mate Yes i am a gas engineer and so is digger. I already have a visa and did tra. Digger is going through this at the mo. He has been told he can only apply for vetassess as he didnt have a nvq in gas. He only has nvq plumbing. It sounds like you will have to sit the plumbers test with vetassess. Have been told its quite easy. Good luck Lee
Guest ozzieandlea
hi everyone the vetassess consists of 3 parts; water services, drainage and gas/roofing. nearly everyone chooses the gas option. Nic have you served a plumbing apprenticeship cos if you have then the vetassess will be a breeze. however if not then you may have to brush up on the water and drainage theory. The practical is fairly easy but i`ve read that some people have slipped up on the questions and this has cost them. not trying to scare you but better to be safe. type `plumbing vetassess` into the search bar and you`ll find most answers. once you pass you`ll receive a provisional licence however you will need to go to TAFE and take a migrants course. we`re off to Perth so i can only give you the info i have for there. here`s the link for the course in WA Migrant Plumbing Training Challenger TAFE there`s also a thread on PIO about plumbing and gas courses in WA. It`s by a guy called dazbevo and he seems to know a fair bit about it.here`s the link for thathttp://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/socialising-get-togethers/41153-perth-plumbing-show-08-a-2.html hope this helps and good luck with it all Ozzie
Nick and sez
Mate thanks for the advice, i thought that would be the case that i would have to do the vetasess, now i can get started on the paperwork, i have got my NVQ in Pumbing and heating but not gas, i did not think our ACS certs would count for much, i start getting all my paper work ready now, what about evidence apart from our certifcates,i have been self employed for 17 years and dont really have any references apart from customers. Thanks for all you advice mate. Cheers Nick.

Guest rachellh
as we are just about to start the journey i need to get some feedback if the grass is greener or is it worth staying in the UK.I don't think there is any such thing as greener grass. And often if it does seems greener from afar, it's only because there are loads of weeds in it! Both countries have their pros and cons, but you'll not really know what's right for you until you've lived in both places. Of course if there are somethings that you feel you will miss about the UK, then you will probably always will. But you also might find this is the perfect country for you. Maybe this will give it some perspective. Good luck with the decision and whatever move you make!

Guest Paul The Plumber
Hi Guys new tonight and posted my first thread on dilemas, im glad to have found a place where i think all my questions can be ansewered. But firstly im a plumbing and heating Eng with Acs gas qualifications and i need to know should i apply to the TRA as a gas fitter or is it best for me to do the Veats sess general plumber practical and has any one else done this, i could really do with your help. many thanks Nick We are going through Vetasses as a general Plumber, OH is a gas fitter but you can only be assessed for that if you have a full appentiship behind you. We run a heating compant with 5 staff and install gas daily, and a gas safe registered, but this is no good if you didn't do an appertiship when doing your city & guilds for 3/4 years, and can prove it. So going as Plumber as you do a practical to prove that you can do the work. This prosess will drive you mad.
