Hi welcome to PIO, I am not sure what you mean, but if you are asking when the MODL will change - no one on here knows, only that it was mentioned somewhere maybe towards the end of the year???

If you are asking when MODL only applications for perm visa are going to start to be processed, have a look at the current ASPC thread for current processing times - think it is going to be a long wait...

I think you are asking either:

- Is there a new MODL that will become effective this month -> NO. MODL is reviewed 2x a year but that does not necessarily result in changes.

- Will DIAC start processing MODL applications for skilled migration -> NO. The priority processing for employer sponsored / state sponsored / CSL remains in place. There is a letter from DIAC circulating that the number of applications in these groups are so large that it is not likely that processing of applications outside these categories will commence this financial year. As it seems now there is a wait of at least another year unless you are able to qualify for priority processing (secure state sponsorship).

Probably not the answer you wanted to hear.

Cheers,

Sylvia

I got this update yesterday on the DIAC prioritisation (our agent sent it through).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news for those not employer or state-sponsored or CSL...

As you may be aware, in a media release dated 12 May 2009, the

Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Senator Chris Evans (the

Minister) announced that the Australian Government has decided that

the permanent skilled migrant intake for the 2009-10 program year will

be 108,100 places. As a result, the priority arrangements implemented

on 1 January 2009 following the Minister's direction in relation to

the order of consideration of certain applications for sponsorship,

nomination and visas under the Skill Stream of the Migration Program,

will remain in place for 2009.

As that is the case, visa applications under the permanent General

Skilled Migration (GSM) Program will continue to be processed in the

following order from 1st July 2009 until 30th June 2010:

Employer sponsorship

State or Territory sponsorship

An occupation on the Critical Skills List (CSL) (the list can be

found at

http://www.overseas-emigration.com/mailer/lt.php?id=MUQFCQNdBgZRTwZUBRlXAgQDBA%3D%3D

)

An occupation on the Migration Occupation in Demand List (MODL) (the

list can be found at

http://www.overseas-emigration.com/mailer/lt.php?id=MUQFCQNdBgZWTwZUBRlXAgQDBA%3D%3D

)

All other applications in date of lodgement order

In short, priority will still be given to employer-sponsored and

state-sponsored visa applications, and skills shortages in particular

fields and regional areas will be addressed. The CSL will also remain

in place.

If your application does not fall into Groups 1-2 and your nominated

occupation is not on the CSL, your application for migration will not

be processed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC)

until all applications in Groups 1-3 have been finalised. DIAC has

stated the following:

Based on current application rates for Groups 1-3, It is

unlikely at this stage that applications which fall in Groups 1-3 will

be exhausted in the 2009-10 Migration Program year and processing of

Groups 4 and 5 will be delayed until this has occurred. This

arrangement applies to all applications in Groups 4 and 5,

irrespective of whether health and character clearances have been

provided; the date your application was submitted; whether the

application is in the final stages of processing or your nominated

occupation was previously on the CSL.

As DIAC considers it unlikely that they will be able to process all

the employer-sponsored, state-sponsored and CSL applications by the

end of June 2010, applications in Groups 4 and 5 are unlikely to be

processed within the next 12 months.
