OO are ya
GDay all, I am an Aussie and my visa has expired in the UK giving me permanent residence. The reason is I have not been there for the last 2 years. My understanding is it costs $1300 + I need to travel to Melbourne from Adelaide for finger printing. Is there another way? Can we return to UK and sort it out there? I understand I will not be able to work but my OH will support us until I have this. Does she need a job to go to before we apply? Anyone done this before? Your help is appreciated. OO are ya
Guest proud2beaussie
As I understand it,if you have been away from the UK for more than 2 years you would need to apply to the British High Commission for Entry Clearance and after that is granted you could apply for indefinete leave to remain. UK Border Agency | Returning residents If your wife is a UK citizen and has a UK passport then she automatically has the right of abode and is free to come and go from the UK freely without the need to prove employment etc and I would think that if she can prove that she can support you then you shouldn't have much trouble being granted leave to remain.
